I remember this very clearly. I was in my first world, I had been playing Minecraft for a few days, and I thought to myself "Killing all these cows is getting boring..What if I made a device that would do it for me?" So I did. the result was a very efficient mob grinder. I was pretty proud of myself.
However, I find that nowadays, if you want to do something, Anything! There is already a solution!
Here are some examples.
Let's try to find food! Let's go find pigs, cows, and chickens
Oh, look, a cave! Better go get my diamond pick, torches, water bucket, and sword
Let's make a new world now! Trees, house, mining, house addition, more mining, farm, get bored and quit.
I always wonder how people like Etho, or PauseunPause, or CaptainSparkelz can never get bored of Minecraft.
Some guy has a let's play he has been doing for 250 Episodes and never has any shortage of ideas.
Because, to be honest, if everything has a solution then what is the point of doing it! It's like homework with all the calculations done, and all you have to do is write it down.
So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get back to that "noobish" feeling where you didn't know how to really do anything!
No but really xP get some mods or play some servers...I normally get bored after a month and stop playing for a few months and then come back and have more fun
Servers, or maybe install Feed the Beast without reading about how any of the mods actually work!

Random wiki page, insta-win! Just go to a random page on the (Minecraft) wiki and build the first thing you think of involving it. Hours of enjoyment. If that doesn't work you could always build a life-size Seattle Space Needle.

I was actually going to play FTB and It would be really cool, because I know a lot of Java, so Turtles would be fun. But it wasn't updated for 1.4.6
