Hello, this morning i made a discovery. I have toomanyitems and enjoy playing with command blocks. So i have a map where i have different command blocks that do different entertaining things. So, i tried to type in a coordinate and set up the course. I have the set command block, then 2 blocks forward redstone and then chisled stone and a button on it. I entered these coordinates for fun, 123456789 200 987654321 (the high altitude was in case i spawn on an extreme hills biome......), so then i pushed the buttion and nothing happened. i checked the redstone and it worked fine but it wouldnt tp me....... im starting to think that the infinite minecraft world thing may go a little far on the truth......... is mojang cheeping me? Because i want infinite worlds where i can do and go wherever i want whenever i want and this is just cheep. Anyone else have simalar problems?
The worlds are technically infinite, but eventually the save file will get too large. Supposedly, the maps are 8 times the size of the earth.

never heard of this, but do you really need a world that big? even if you had a world only 1000x1000x1000 it would be big enough to spend almost a month of none stop gameplay to explore the whole thing.
It is not infinite worlds, but it takes 30 million blocks to reach the end, approx. 80 hours walking time. Also, if you were to generate every sort of possible block, the hard drive needed would be 40TB.
You don't need it to be that large, and it isnt cheap.
hey i was in creative and was trying to have fun with exploring lands and such but idk...
Do you really need it almost a billion blocks from spawn. If you built two towns 3k blocks from each other, and connected it with a railroad, it would take forever to complete. You dont need more that 5k usually for a world.
Also, all the biomes are the same. There is no difference between one. If you see all the biomes, they will just repeat. Exploring lands isn't needed. All features are the same.
@Flame, maybe your right..... that was also the map i use to test out new things and i traveled every where....using temp command blocks(i was trying to find the perfect place to put the command block cetner and in the proscess, i spawned in an ocean like 14 times. what the heck is with all the oceans?!?)but i dont have that great of a computer anyway (im buliding a monster:D) soooo........yeahuh i work on huge things

not if you have a multibiome mod or are as coder who can probably make another kind of biome himself!!and besides im very addicted and is on whenever i have the chance...
The worlds are 60,000,000 blocks wide and have a radius of 30,000,000.
Since it's almost impossible to reach the far lands except through tp commands, people consider the worlds figuratively infinite.
Can we just get back to the origanal subject, i think flames right. ill just add 5 more harddrives to my computer, throw in some ram, another processer and graphics card and 2 more monitors and i should be good to go...............:P
You dont need that big of a space. 5k times 5k is plenty.
Here think of it in differnet terms:
5k=5 kilometers by 5 kilometers
Area: 25 kilometers
A average house in a survival world has an area of 25 meters
A two year old famous server has an area of 40 kilometers
You dont need that large of a world.

look im just an average minecrafter who just wondered why it wouldnt let me tp to this location so i posted this average thread explaing what happened and now everyone is making a fuss about it!!!!!!!!!!
The world is infinite, but when you get to X:32000 Z:32000 (I think) the world generates a bit differently in caves and no trees. Also you go through all blocks. Also when you try to perform the command it gives you the too high error because the blocks at that point are not solid.
