Does anyone else have this problem? It's really annoying. I think it's a new issue in 1.4.4. Sometimes some of my torches lose their fire as it moves around so I think it's to do with them. It's most noticeable in the beginning of the video and you can't see most of it because it's only 30 FPS. Seems to happen at every screen update.

Yes famicube, I have this problem as well. I updated to 1.4.4 a couple of hours ago, and when I went up to the "roof garden" of my house at sunset and looked out over the surrounding area, I had small torch flame images flickering on my screen like fireflies. Curiously, it only seems to happen in a certain direction, covering about 20-30 degrees of my view. Some of the torch images are quite large, as if they are only 5-10 blocks away, so it seems unlikely that this is some kind of unintentional "transparency" bug.
EDIT: Just went back and re-checked this. I do get torch images flickering on the screen in all directions, it's just that they are far more common and noticeable in a small arc of my view. I can't see any of my torches that actually lose their fire, but I will keep an eye out for this.

I currently have this same issue of flickering floating torch flames that pop up in seemingly random locations in my view. Not in only one direction though. Anyone else getting this or have any solutions?
It's a "long"-known issue with 1.4.4, I'm pretty disappointed they went ahead with the release.

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
Not only did I get the flames like everyone else, but (and this was only after installing OptiFine so I don't know if they're related) I also saw the bubbles, like when you're underwater. But I wasn't underwater, and they were only brief flashes like with you guys' flames.
I got this glitch too and I figured out how to fix it. All you need to do is turn your particles to minimum or off and you shouldn't see them anymore.
It's still a very irritating glitch and I want Mojang to consider releasing a 1.4.5 because this but is intrusive enough to make playing pretty damn annoying.

Yup mine's in one direction as well.
It also only seems to happen at my spawn area. Dunno if that has anything to do with it. I can't see anything at my NPC village.Nevermind. I just had to walk around.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.

Also.. the 0.0.0.0:1234 lan play ip glitch needs to be fixed too that crap is very annoying.
That fixed worked for me. Thanks for sharing!
