For a while now I've been neglecting the thought and trying to ignore it.. But.. It's finally here. I don't like Minecraft anymore. It's been dumbed down beyond belief to me, survival used to be survival.
It had so much potential. It's too bad it went a completely different direction than it could have and to a lot - should have.
So, this is my goodbye Minecraft. We had a good run. Maybe later updates will change you, but for now, I can't stand playing you anymore.
Okay okay this is just an opinion, so calm down a bit guys.
I only believe that Minecraft simply could have expanded into a different branch of game play than it is now. I'm not a big fan of enchantments or potions, I feel they somewhat rape the game of it's realism; don't get me wrong, I think for many people that was a good addition, but I also feel like it took away part of what made Minecraft unique. Which was the more realistic approach to a fun indie game.
Small addition after small addition (and they do add up after awhile) the game just didn't feel the same. Not only additions, but big changes in core elements. It's difficulty has completely gone away, mobs are way easier to fight, armor makes you Jesus Christ now, food is stack-able and takes 3 seconds to get.
I feel Minecraft could have put the realistic aspects to use more and expanded on them, but then again, that's just me.
Many aren't going to care much about this thread (and will probably argue), mainly because it's a personal opinion and the general public seems to be taking a liking to Minecraft. It's growing exponentially by the day, so rather than complaining about your own dislike for it, at least be happy that Mojang is getting some recognition and success for their hard work.
Also, you said it "had potential" but "went the way it shouldn't have"... Can you suggest what it SHOULD have done on your own, brilliant standards?
Everyone's going to have an opinion on what they feel Minecraft should be. I personally love it as it currently stands, as I have been playing since early Beta, and hope that future updates continue to add as much content as the last two.
i think he might be right minecraft is getting boring alittle they need to add more objects so ppl can stop hacking minecraft and doing all this stuff they say minecraft is getting all this money but minecraft dosent compare to world of warcraft skyrim its getting really boring..my opinion update minecraft update the graphics add more animals add more objects gamemodes minecraft is a game of imagination and creation but you can't KEEP CREATING things oover and over again ppl shouldent have to hack games to enjoy it HONESTLY.....but that's just my opinion nothing againts minecraft i still play it it;s just that needs more fun added to it

u are correct it has many opinions about minecraft....
We all had ideas on where minecraft was going to go. At the end of the day though, minecraft really hasn't changed at all. I start in a brand new world with the options to start with structures and villagers or not. I start off the game by punching some trees, just getting enough wood to make a wooden pickaxe.
I mine up some stone, realize that I am slowly getting hungry and kill some nearby pigs and cows. Eat it raw, and continue mining till I find some coal. Move on to finding iron, then gold, redstone, lapis, and diamond. I hide in some hole while I wait for night to pass by. Open it up when the morning sun rises. And I continue trying to get enough materials to get a basic home. Once that's established, I look for permanent residence.
I mine, I craft, I build glorious structures. I explore the unknown. I go spelunking, and if I'm lucky (or unlucky) I find a dungeon. I battle the infinite hoard of monsters and get my small surprise! A small record, happens to be my favorite and is labeled "Far". I'm feeling considerable lucky, I take my diamond pick and mine up some obsidian. I build a portal, a portal to hell. A place of fire and lava, and I mine what it has. I take the netherack for an infinite fire source, the glowstone for lights and potions, and explore the nether fortress battling wither skeletons and blazes looking for that obscure plant called netherwart.
Minecraft hasn't changed, its added features to the game that require you to play longer, battle more, and do more. You have gotten so good, that you have felt that the game has changed. You have techniques that are unique to just you. A certain way of playing this game, certain ways of mining that you feel is the most efficient that you apply to every new world you create. The game itself is the same as its always been. Mine the goodies, avoid the baddies, and do what you love to do. Explore. Build. Fight. Conquer.
I suggest taking a break, as you said you would. Play some other games, beat some other games. You will get that itch to play a game that never ends. That keeps going, and going, and going. That keeps getting richer with features. And realize that all you have to do is download a 30mb game, that will keep you entertained for hours on end.
I have been playing since the creation of the game, I have taken small and large breaks. And yet I always have the itch. To play one game. To mine. To craft. To explore. To spelunk. To battle. and there is only one game that quenches that calling. You will be gone, but I will welcome you back to the game with welcoming arms when you decide to play the neverending game of Minecraft.
I know how you feel Kluiyyyy, I got bored of it too right after it officially released. Instead of giving up, I tried out multiplayer (I prefer to play solo *shrug*) That got me to stay for a while longer, but I got bored of that too (mostly because of the drama and hackers!) I just got back into the game after a long break from it. I suggest that you don't delete your minecraft install. Leave it there on the off chance that you come back to play again.
Have you tried multiplayer? Different mods? They might help to revive your interest... or not.
Might I ask what you think has ruined the game for you?
If you're going to quit over additions (The only thing that was truly REMOVED from the game was the old world generation), then you need to reconsider what's making the game so unbearable. And I completely disagree with your opinion on survival no longer being survival. More aspects to improve the survival aspect have been added and nothing was added/taken away to make the game less survival-oriented. Explain 1 thing that makes the game less "survival".
The one and only thing I feel was taken away from Minecraft is the old Terrain generation, which I can easily get back with the Better World Generation mod.
where have i seen this thread before? oh wait.... do i need to say this again? for the 4th time?
IF YOU THINK THE GAME HAS GONE A DIFFERENT DIRECTION, PROVIDE SOME FREAKING EXAMPLES!
what has changed for you? how is THIS version of the game LESS about survival then the previous? if anything, it has more survival. i have yet too see ONE SINGLE THREAD that gives an example. without an example you are just "complaining that the picture was painted with a different color scheme".
Mods, maps, and multiplayer games are alternatives of me playing my singleplayer world. And nobody is forcing you to update your game.

A Newcomer to commentating. Mine aren't top notch yet, but I think I do a pretty good jeb. Sometimes my vides are jonk and a carn fest. My name isn't Kris or Marc IRL, it's Top Secret. I had a few YT accounts b4, but they were junk. That is all.
I can say with honesty that every forum for every game i've played has had quit threads over an update or handful of updates. However at the same time one person quits, a handful begin playing.

This thread isn't needed
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
It's just a discussion thread. With that logic we can basically say most posts in "General Discussion" aren't needed.
