Well I was wondering how notch can change minecraft code while he's playing and have it take effect. I've tried in eclipse several times and it never works I always have to restart. Even debug mode doesn't work which is what he says it is. Here is the video that shows him changing the code while he's playing and then it takes effect.
It's called edit & continue. It's existed in any respectable IDE since the early eighties.
It can't always work for everything, some changes require a restart. He isn't changing the code, by the way. The IDE is injecting the changed bytecode in the Virtual Machine.
Ok thanks, I'm sorry I'm a noob to Eclipse, so how would I go about doing this? I ran my program in debug mode but I don't see where the edit and continue thing is.
