You gotta be open to peoples opinion, man.
Even if we don't agree to it.
The OP wants to talk about things we miss from older versions and perhaps later in Minecraft's life there'll be an option for reverting textures back to Alpha/Beta days for the nostalgic crowd who can't be bothered to use MCNostalgia (me).
I agree we should all be considerate of other people and their opinions but this topic has been driven into the ground. Every 2-3 days there's a new "WHO MISSES ALPHA?!" or "MINECRAFT JUST ISNT THE SAME..." thread on the forums and they're all identical.
I prefer minceraft to minecraft
Part of the 1.9 update would have a one in ten chance of saying minceraft on the title screen
This has nothing to do with the thread.
A change in the title isn't going to cause a sudden burst of nostalgia considering the "typo" don't affect the game - at all.
You know the only thing I don't like is when they add blocks and stuff because I have to update my texture pack which is a lot of trouble. But anything else I welcome. As long as it has the name Minecraft I guess.

Minecraft is just a game...............with blocks............with me.
The only two things that I really miss from my beggining days in Beta 1.4 are:
1) Me being a noob, slowely learning how the game works and how to play it, it was really fun at the start. I rarely play old school SSP survival anymore simply because I became an expert at the game.
2) The terrain generation. Lord how I loved Gargamel, favorite seed of all time. And yes, I know there are mods which bring it back, but I'd rather have "the best of both worlds" generation, the best things from the old and the new generation.
Don't just say it's getting better. Do you remember Notch/Jeb saying that hunger would only be the part of ''Realistic Mode''? People wouldn't complain if we had that. Also, The terrain is predictble, grass looks extremely dull, The more realistic sounds that we got a while ago don't fit minecraft, we don't have some of the biomes. And, actually, non-stackable food made the game harder because there was only a limited number we could take with us. Minecraft changed, it's completely different, I don't suffer from nostalgia because I enjoy playing with The nostalgia project and it's more fun for me than normal minecraft.
Life changes. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

The OTC derivitatives market will approach a quadrillion dollars in valuation within a year or two. That "private sector innovation" should make you nervous.
I think that until the 1.8 update every update of the game was reasonable and most people liked them, Mojang just expended the game without changing the core stuff, but from 1.8 they started to dramaticly change the game and this is when people started to say how much Minecraft changed and it was better before. But if you play Minecraft 1.7 or older, you'll see that it's getting boring pretty quick cause there's not enough things you can do. So updates are great, BUT, they always change something in the updates that annoy most players, which is why I think updates should be optional. So overall, updates are good cause they expend the game but sometime they change something that annoy players, but if you get over the changes, you should be grateful that they're making them. Cause without them Minecraft will die.
This is a phenomenon I observed a long time ago, it happens with almost all video games. When you first start playing, everything is new and wonderful. Eventually, you learn everything there is to know, and there are no surprises, no challenges. That's what kills the fun.
SuperZac, and everyone else that already said that, I know a game is most fun to play when you play it for the first time; But I use my alpha 1.1.2 world, and I find it much more enjoyable than the current minecraft. Don't instantly think that this is the case.
I have to say Minecraft has been getting progressively better since Alpha/Beta. The new things that were added is what made Minecraft Minecraft. When we bought this game in Beta we went in knowing that things would not stay the same forever, that things would change for better or for worse. The only thing I can complain about is that the last few patches have been quite.....lacking.
What on earth is the problem with stackable food? I'd imagine the hunger bar haters would have no problem with it. Having unstackable food was an annoyance, and we can stack cubic meters of materials like cobblestone, which take up much more space. If you said stackable food made the game harder, well, so does the hunger bar.
I miss the old terrain generation most. All those amazing seeds just barely look different now.
The only major thing that affected Minecraft Survival is the addition of charcoal. Player received an option not to risk their live/time in search of coal who-knows-where, thus the gameplay soothed down. Which is not very interesting if you're seeking challenge.
All other changes, in my opinion, enriched the game. Well, duh, I always thought Minecraft was a mining game, nothing really went worse in terms of that. Even the whole charcoal thing doesn't affect later gameplay, only early gameplay. And only if you choose to use it.
Agreed with Sulker. Features like hunger or new terrain generation should be optional. If they did make them optional, noone would complain and this thread wouldn't exist.
Also, alot people seem to support every update that comes to minecraft. Can't you learn that not everything that comes from the developers is good? Just look at Star wars galaxies, 2 Major updates that completely changed the game ruined it completely. The same can happen to this.

Ya I don't want Notch to screw up Minecraft, or Jeb for that matter..

And Creative mode is better than ever.
Yeah yeah keep crying and complaining.
Sure... sure..., you are correct your highness, you are so correct.
No one shall insult your arguments or else my sword shall be covered in their blood!
you can always downgrade
