Wait. People are justifying not letting you use Silk Touch on Ice because . . . you can spend an hour or two using pistons to do it in a far less conveneint way? Silk Touch is MEANT to be a conveneince-based enchantment to obtain blocks you normally cannot get. It's INTENDED to be OP in that you can [Or used to for some of this] reclaim glass, get grass/Mycellium 'source' blocks, get ice, etc. But if you remove some of these features BECAUSE it's too OP . . . that defeats the purpose of the enchantment. That's like nerfing the Infinity enchantment to, say, only SOMETIMES use an arrow in your inventory.
Just going to leave these here.

I want Ice in my survival world. I would never finish that. A enchanted pick would be so much simpilar is what I'm saying. It's already been in the game once.

if you want a game to not be challenging in anyway, why play the game at all?
until pistons in 1.7 ice outside of snow Biomes was unusable in vanilla survival.
I like that ice is hard to get because it adds more fun to the game.
also it takes less time to harvest the stuff to make this and build it then it would to make a EXP farm / collect enough EXP to get s silk touch pick unless your lucky
and you also don't have to make an automatic machine, just take a piston and a redstone torch, and keep powering the piston all the way to your home. and if you don't want to have to break it all the time, my friend came up with a design for a piston caterpillar, just one sticky piston and one regular one. then just power them with a redstone torch, break it and place it somewhere else. all the way to your house. It might take time, but if you want ice that bad, it shouldn't be much of a problem.
Edit: Actually, firesflame has a piston caterpillar pushing the row of ice, ask him if you want to know how to make it.
BTW, it's pronounced (aw-none-Ian) aw, like aw, darn it. none, like i have none of that, and Ian, like the name (though that is not my name). It is definitely not pronounced (ah-weh-know-knee-en) because that's just weird.
