There are many devoted Minecrafters out there who just want one thing- Minecraft on the Nook. I think that this really needs to happen soon because alot of people really want this. If Mojang could just make a deal with B & N or something like that it would be really nice. It is possible to get minecraft PE on the nook by rooting it. Although, this method deletes the Nook's memory, depending on the device you root it to. Another method is returning your Nook to version 1.4.0. But that will erase your entire memory. I just want to be able to get Minecraft PE off of the Nook store. If you can help me please leave a comment.
Well if you were to jailbreak it or hack it it would be possible. Unfortunately, that is illegal and you could get arrested for that. I think it just would be much simpler if you could just download it of the Nook store.

It's not illegal to root the Nook.

You don't have to root the Nook color or tablet. You just have install software to a SD card and restart. Look up N2A or the XDA site for more info on how to do this. It doesn't mess with any of your Nook data and you can go back and forth between an android tablet and Nook on the fly.
However, as far as Minecraft PE goes: I installed my android version on my nook tablet and it crashes at the create world screen.
The poor Nooks dual core processors aren't up to the challenge it seems.

what about the new nook hd and hd + they can handle it can't they
The Nook HD+ comes with Google Play, you can get Minecraft using that. The app looks like a shopping bag. YOU CANNOT GET MINECRAFT USING THE B&N STORE, YOU HAVE TO USE GOOGLE PLAY. Rooting is not necessary. And I run Terraria on my HD+ just fine, and Minecraft uses no more memory then that.
Can it even run it?

But it does delete all of the Nook's files.
