I know for sure that MC 1.2 will not modify the already existing biome in you 1.1 world.
But let say that you build a boat and take the ocean, going far away, forcing MC to generate new lands. Does jungle will popup ?
Briefly, does 1.2 MC will generate the new jungle bio in a 1.1 world if it creates new land? Or it will stick to 1.1 stuff since the world was created in that version?

Time for the snapshot of week 3, 2012! List of changes, since 1.1 last week:
Ladders regained their collision box, and vines are climbable when they have a solid block behind them
Added jungle biome
THIS HERE---->>>>>>(requires a new world) with new tree and leaf types
Updated language files
Dispensers will place mobs instead of releasing the spawner egg
Zombies have new path-finding AI
Wolves have new AI and can be bred (when tame)

This should answer your question.
