starting off, i really have no problem with the people who prefer alpha, it's they're opinion so i got no problem, but i hate how they say "1.0.0 sucks! it ruins sandbox due to the end, hunger bar, potions, etc." and how they say "i miss alpha, 1.0.0 is s**t" or "Minecraft was Simple". the last one bugs me off mostly because minecraft has ALWAYS been optional and if the people want, it can be simple, or adventurous, or epic, whatever. So i don't really see the change a lot. stuff such as the Hunger bar are indeed unnecessary, but can't they just download a mod to turn it off and stop complaining? and the experience bar can be ignored, same as features such as villages, or strongholds, or fortresses which can ALL be turned off with the "generated structures" option. I agree the terrain generation is the thing most people dislike. even I think so, and i started on 1.8.1. but all the other stuff are completely optional. Everything it's optional in minecraft, actually. in conclusion: the only big deal is the terrain generation, but people shouldn't complain about the other stuff or features.
TL;DR: i find annoying how people complain about 1.0.0
even more TL;DR: i hate it when people complain at 1.0.0.

if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
People complained about Minecraft 1.3 when it was out. People complained about 1.4 when it was out.
Hell, people probably complained about new things in Indev when it was out as well.
People will complain. Just be glad there are large gaps of time between the offending threads.

Jeb ruined MC, Cats seriously? Nerfing Mob traps that help players. It's nearly impossible to start a new world without setting up near a village or staying at spawn because of hunger, if I start a new world it's on peaceful until I get a food source going. I enjoy the changes to MC just want Notch back :sad.gif:

Whats wrong with the world generation :sad.gif: before all the mountains and oceans were small and now they're massive and magnificent
People complained about how oceans were too small and the landscape was boring, and so they got 1.8, but IMMEDIATELY AFTER the update, and I mean within about 15 minutes, people were posting about how oceans are too big. The same people who wanted bigger things are complaining about those things being too big. Both generators were amazing...

We needed more mobs. Mob grinders? It a lot more fun to ACTUALLY kill the mobs yourself. Hunger is super easy to stay full, kill a pig, there thats 10 minutes of food there.

You completely missed the point of his post. Go reread that whole thing.
How that wasn't meant towards him, it was for all the people that want Alpha back. There are version changers out there that will put whatever version you want back into minecraft.

You quoted the OP. Therefore, IT WAS MEANT FOR OP. And the people who are bitching about additions to the game aren't going into this thread.

1. What's wrong with cats? Don't complain about an optional update.
2. Nerfing mob traps brought the novel idea of actually fighting mobs.
3. Hunger is not that bad. If you don't sprint and jump while you walk, you'll have no problem. Besides, apples fall from trees now.
4. Your last sentence is really contradictory. You complain about changes, then say you enjoy them, and then complain about Notch being busy with his own life? If no one said that Jeb was taking over, no one could tell the difference between Notch's work and Jeb's work. It's like blaming the internet for ACTA.
This comes down to a matter of opinion(duh?). Personally, I loved 1.2 when I joined Minecraft. I loved it up to 1.8, then I started to not like it as much. In the older Minecraft, I had the best time doing simple stuff, like making cake, and trying to find wolves to tame and keep as dogs, or staring at the never-changing moon from my house's roof. I recently invested in one of those version things, and it was just how I remembered it, just as fun. No food bar, pigs with flat faces, shooting arrows at 950 rounds per minute, the simple things like that. The world was simple, yet so intriguing. And now... cake isn't fun because of the hunger bar. Fun isn't fun because of the hunger bar. Bows are better now, I will say, and some of the new parts are cool. But...potions aren't fun. Enchanting isn't fun. Breeding is cool, mooshrooms are not. Finding caves full of mushrooms was fun, islands of them are not. The Nether is still okay, but Pigmen and Ghasts were the best.
Basically, the old Minecraft was just complex enough to not be overwhelming, but simple enough to have charm and fun. The new Minecraft is very overwhelming. There are so many features, it's become a bit ridiculous. I tried explaining Minecraft to a friend and he couldn't understand much of it, mainly just the build and survive aspect, not all this potionmaking and enchanting and hunger and stuff.
However; the new Minecraft does have some good perks that now that I think about it, I couldn't go without. The main one is Creative Mode and the new Superflat world. I can build anything and everything now, with no worries and unlimited supplies. My imagination is free, not restricte by a healthbar or gravity. A few features have been nice or funny, like the new language options, the performance options, sprinting, more mob drops of varying use(porkchops were cool, but steak and chicken were even better), and definitely some of the performance/glitch fixes. I remember chunk errors being rampant in 1.2, but I see none now.
All in all, currently MC has ups and downs. Maybe Notch should add a setting or something allowing one to generate a world from Alpha or Beta, Creative, Survival, or Hardcore. So like the new game modes with the old Minecraft. Maybe.
That's like telling someone that doesn't like fps games to just ignore the shooting.
Cats are part of the game they are there. They can't be ignored.
No it's not, Minecraft isn't about cats, so that argument is invalid. Cats only spawn in one biome and even in that biome are quite rare. It's more like telling someone who likes Halo but not Reach's features that they can just ignore concussion rifles (which they can).

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

I do get tired of the "minecraft losing its original likeness" posts. Its all still there, not removed or pushed aside.
