since you are talking about pc minecraft this is not the place to post this please get out of the xbox section if you are not talking about xbox minecraft
Only wired controllers can be lugged directly into the PC. A wireless controller with a Charge and Play cable won't work without a wireless adapter. The Charge and Play cable doesn't send information back and forth from the controller to the PC, it just sends power.
Xpadder because I heard Minecraft PC does not use controller support. I hate those people who think that M&K is better even though it is not. It is less safe for joints and it is hard to use. You can't lay back either. To those people, Why do you think xpadder was invented, huh?
i love the feeling of a xbox controller instead of the mouse and keyboard im so glad i found this thread ill be looking into this shortly now i have a keyboard for my controller will this work as well?
I have a mac (MBPro) and I use Joystick Mapper ($5 from Apple's App Store) to use a PS3 wired controller to play the PC version. Took some tweaking (not twerking) to get the sensitivities right, but it sure saves wear and tear on my keyboard! What I find neat is all the keyboard and mouse functions still work, but now I can use the controller too. In other words, the best of both worlds!
I just switched to the PC version. Google up JoyToKey. it's easy to find. I got smoother peformance out of JoyToKey than the one specifically written for minecraft.
In MC, I cranked up the mouse sensitivity, to make it so I can turn faster to react to stuff (it used to be slow). And initially, I had over-step problems, where Steve wouldn't stop walking when I let off the controls. That got fine tuned in the JoyToKey settings and now, my config file works pretty good for me, and it feels about the same as on the xbox.
There's nothing wrong with the Xbox version, I just wanted to get the latest features finally.
Here's my config file. Just drop into a text file called "minecraft.cfg" in the JoyToKey directory and load it up. I think the newest version of JoyToKey doesn't like older config files, as other people's files had the wrong mappings from what they said. So this is the from the latest version of the tool

I use Xpadder to use a pc gaming controller rather than an xbox controller, but I think I want to switch to the 360 controller as the PC controller is a POC. However, one question I have for you guys, especially those with Xpadder is, does using the controller or the program itself cause any lag for you? It seems to drop mine and I want to make sure I'm not just making it up.
They made the Xbox 360 version for people who don't have the system specs to run the game with a decent frame rate and didn't wanna dish out the money to have a beast system. Yet some of us who have really high end PC's still like to have the luxury of playing with a controller sometimes instead of being bent over our keyboards

There needs to be a mod to configure the controller input to match console versions of minecraft. with a controller on pc, you'll hate inventory and gui. Some d-pad support for gui would be great.
Thanks, I tried with the charge and play.
or use Xpadder

Xbox 360 is not even close to where the PC version is as of updates, plus there are no snapshots in the Xbox 360 edition.

Yes, sadly, there is also no way to avoid that.
