Hey guys, let's state our opinions about a video game as fact!
Why does it matter what people play? Does it ruin your life when someone plays on Creative? People have different opinions and not everyone want's to play survival. That's the beauty of Minecraft, you don't have to play it any specific way.
NO. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO PLAY. HARD MODE SURVIVAL PLAYER MASTER RACE.
</sarcasm>
Seriously though, why is it such a big deal to you guys? Personally, I have a creative world and a survival world. One is creative, the other is survival. I create in one, and then go and survive in the other. Despite what you may believe, I have not ruptured the third dimension by doing this.
Kurt of Far Lands or Bust also does a Let's Play featuring current version content in Survival, and Two Awesome Gamers have been failing at Skyblock with Survival.
Creative is useful for showcasing certain things because you can fly in creative, and it eases making quick builds for demonstration. RPGMakers have been working in Creative since it became available, and I don't feel it detracts from their effort. When their project is done, it will get switched to Survival for all to enjoy.
Creative's main focus is to use Minecraft to create something that comes from your mind. Can you imagine the time it would take to make Middle Earth as one group is doing, keeping it on Survival? The mind shudders at the prospect.
Survival's focus is a bit more on just the individual aspect and how you deal with the world. But it is also a labor of love that not everybody will have the patience to sit through. The first Youtube channel that got me into Minecraft was TheTolhe. And he did his videos staying strictly in Survival. There was actually he opted to do off-camera because it approached the point of tediousness that he knew viewers wouldn't enjoy that much. Now if Creative was available at that time, he probably would have used that instead. Possibly not because he did express how much fun it was to craft something under the constant threat of mobs. Many inventories and diamonds were lost in his adventures.
I'm just trying to help you understand the why's. For a good who, there is always the Yogscast. They do a fair job featuring many mods in their programs, and keep it in Survival mode.

In the real world, you stick your head in the dirt to hide from problems.
In Minecraft, you stick your head in the dirt to find problems.
Well to your own logic there, all sweeping generalizations are false, so your sweeping generalization is false too.
Which means that...
Oh wait. A paradox. derp
Look at the technic pack. It has hundreds of ways for users to use it, and it's made for legit, to get resources faster. Now give me one COMPLETELY legit video on it. See? The technic pack is used primarily in creative.
Who gives a flying fladoodle?
The Human race is as lazy as sloths.
As my math teacher says, "Human ingenuity is the result of people wanting to be lazy later"
But you know what?
People Play this crap in Creative Because they have fun doing it!
And isn't that the whole point of playing video games?
I use mods, but there's a problem with some of them. A number of mods you can't use until you are well into the game. For example, Equivalent Exchange you need to be in the Nether by the time you get the Philosopher's Stone and have some fun with it. Another one is the Herobrine mod which requires 2 gold blocks, a netherrack, and a totem block. So, most people go creative wanting to at least have fun with it. Patience is lacking in today's high-strung society of instant gratification.
However, there are mods that you can use right off the bat. InfiniCraft let's you build out of almost whatever material you can get your hands on. Hungry mod, which was showcased by GameChap, works by letting you eat the ground beneath your feet. No longer running around looking for animals who will run when attacked. Right now, he's thinking about adding Technic Pack compatibility for more hilarity.
Whenever I get a mod, I play in creative mode to make sure they work and are installe correctly. I test out some of the items to make sure I know what I'm doing. After, I go straight to survival to work for them. It doesn't take anything away from the fun. Remember when when you first started out? Most of us ran to the wiki so we know what the hell we should be doing. Others managed to scrape by through either skill or pure luck.
With mods, I like to think like I'm playing Minecraft for the first time again. Definately helps your mindset.
The thing I hate about forums like this is that we get in fights. People start to lose their cool, and they start to get confrontational, and they don't stay on topic.
It's quite sad, modders make mods intended for survival gameplay, but yet, they use creative to showcase and/or use the mod. Also it's sad because everyone downloads mods but don't use them because they always play creative, then get bored with the game and forget about how fun survival was. Only youtubers, hardcore fans, and the occasional bloke who doesn't know about mods or texture packs, actually plays the survival mode for the entertainment...I almost cried typing this out...
Pre-1.8 We will all salute you, never forget you, and always miss you
Goodbye glorious days of minecraft, soon when the modding API comes out there will be so much controversy over how minecraft plays out, the game with be lost
Later Posts I've made on the thread:
Yeah I think what happened is that the game got harder because of the hunger system, then everyone that the survival wasn't fun anymore because it became annoyingly hard...
But, I feel the same you do about using creative and playing survival.
Yeah, I only see people play legit on multi-player, but even then people are either using X-ray mods, griefing, or staying alive with no-trees at all within about 1000 blocks from the spawn...
Yeah I agree, but I'm saying that because of creative the portion of mine craft that used TMI 100% the time a spoiled themselves grew from the 15% of mine craft players that majorly used mods, to the 95% of people that are lazy scums to me. Almost every video I've seen on youtube from after 1.8 that is not an LP is pretty much in creative...
i have the tekkit mod pack and even though i play creative sometimes i mainly play survival with it, its AMAZING playing survival with so many mods, i dont think i can ever go back to vanilla! i play on a tekkit server with tons of my friends and it is so much fun, so yeah it kinda is sad

It's sad... that the OP only sees the negativity in this game, then makes broad generalizations against everybody who plays it. Little does he know that the vast majority of players still have fun playing legitimately on survival mode, and use creative mode separately as intended. What you see in the Minecraft community through YouTube, the forums, or even SMP servers, doesn't represent the Minecraft community as a whole. In no way shape or form has creative mode "ruined" this game. People use creative mode to showcase mods and creations because it takes way less time than on survival, and you get a birds eye view.

By the way, in response to your signature, there is already a penguin mod. GameChap already showcased it.
It's a texture pack.
Not you... that as at OP. (original Post)
Ah, sorry.

What's tekkit?
Some hip misspelling of Technic, apparently.
Seems closer to Bukkit to me, but I'm not sure. Mayber there IS a tekkit server.
Which is exactly what you're doing, expect for everything else.
