So, I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but is there any way to ignite netherrack without direct player interaction in vanilla? For example, a fireplace that lights when a player enters a room and steps on a plate.
I know several mods make redstone ignite it, but I was hoping there was another way, unmodded.
Yeah, thats what I thought.
I was hoping to make a secret passage/fireplace that would burn out when the door is open, and light back up when its closed somehow. Guess not. Odd that it burns forever, but nothing catches it on fire.
If it's on smp, you could hire someone to stand around all day and light/unlight it whenever someone walks by.

Laval with arrows?
Just tried it. Fire arrows just stick out of it waiting to be collected. Lava does nothing, too. Hmrrrph.

If you set a man on fire he will be warm for the rest of his life.
Just in general. I know there are mods for it, I was just hoping there was a vanilla way.
Looks like my only option.
They put out the fire...
I hoped I was wrong?
