I don't always build legit. I used to. Now, it doesn't really matter a whole lot to me. I don't build things so I can say I gathered all the materials, and placed the whole thing block by block, I build things just for what they are...to be functional, look cool, whatever.
And I like to Worldedit things...a lot. Whole landscapes. With the new terrain gen, I've been adding a lot of beaches to coastlines in new chunks. When I transferred my old world to 1.0.0, I flew around all the harsh borders of old and new chunks, terraforming them into seamless, blended terrain.
Building legit may be more fulfilling for the builder, but I just hate people who say "It's not legit so it's bad". All that matters is if it looks impressive and was creative.
I find it much more fulfilling for me.
mods....... well when I install them they are not usually beneficial for building more like just to add more content to minecraft
