I've seen videos of people giving advice to go 6 Levels above Bedrock in search of Diamond. That's what I did, and I came back to the surface with eight Diamonds, all hidden in different spots.
I guess if you keep digging and find a cave, you have the best chance of finding Diamond. Is it just plain luck, or is digging 6 Levels above Bedrock true? I think it's true, honestly. Your opinion?
It's actually true, because most diamond ore's generate at that level. I've tried this on a server once and actually got 20 diamonds in one long mineshaft.
i'd say it's luck, because according to minecraft wiki, the ideal layer is the layer 12 (above bedrock), so it was luck, according to me.

if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
I've heard that diamond only spawns form level 10-16 up from bedrock. If you dig a passage at level 11 going in one directions and make little holes to see if diamond is near the tunnel you will find lots of diamond!! Search '"strip mining" on minecraft wiki.

Diamonds spawn at the bottom of the world, so yes, Diamonds do work this way.
