Hello! I am a Resident Assistant at a college, and I want to do Minecraft as my floor theme (we decorate our floors, give people door signs with their names, etc.). I did a lot of Google searching, and looking through this forum, and all I could find was papercrafts and things like that (annoyingly, a lot of 'printable' Minecraft server information).
Specifically, I would like large, printable Minecraft signs (like, the signs when you place a sign on the side of a building, or block, or whatever) to put people's names on as door tags. Then I would like some large, printable blocks (dirt with grass on it, etc.).
Is there somewhere I can find these things? Or can anyone think of a good way to make them? I think it would be really cool to do this as a floor theme, but I need some help.
Huuuuge thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
Just posted yesterday. Make giant signs in Minecraft, send them off to be printed.
Other idea is legos. Who doesn't like some legos? Get some plastic cement, stick that **** together.
As far as the blocks go if you want realistically sized blocks, grab yourself some 2.5' cubed shipping boxes, like a boss, and paint them or print out textures.
Yeah, that's the ticket.
Good luck bru. Sounds like a really fun floor to live on. Until someone punches down your door dressed up as a creeper. ****'s not cool.
Hahaha, I'd prefer something that isn't described on its own website as "cheaper than a reasonable used car". :tongue.gif:
As far as printing some textures and putting them on boxes, yes, this is what I want! I'm looking for the textures to print out! Preferably some random blocks and signs for their doors! Is there a place to get these?
Easiest way would be to download a high-res texture pack, photoshop the blocks you want, and blow them up to Whatever size you need for your boxes. Find out if your college has a sign printer, and if not, find a local printing company, but be warned, that'll be costly. Finally, get some cheap paint rollers and some paper-friendly glue, as well as packing tape. Tape the boxes shut as flat as possible, roll on the glue, and carefully place the pattern. For some added fun, get small squares of velcro for the corners of the blocks, so you can build effectively with them. Deck the **** out of the hall to make it a cave! :biggrin.gif:
Anyways, lemmie grab some product links, give you an idea of what you'll need.
Okay, I created several images for this project. Interstingly enough, when I simply take the terrain.png from minecraft.jar and enlarge it in Microsoft Paint, it hardly loses any quality for most things. So I did that to blow up textures I wanted. That's the step I'm on now. I can't print them until I get back to college on the 5th-ish.
So I'll just be printing these, putting names on the sign texture and putting them on people's doors and laminating them, then lining the floor (on the wall/doors right above the floor) with the dirt blocks with grass on them, and I think hanging the rest of the things just randomly around the walls.
So, if anyone else is trying to do a project like this, just take terrain.png and enlarge it so many times in Paint (I enlarged it by 500% twice, then 150%).

And just grab some boxes from Fedex or somthing.
You've got this, bru. I wish you the best of luck. And come back with pictures!

Here's a link to the Photobucket album with my large texture images. I'll no doubt need to make them larger to get the size I want, but I'm amazed at the lack of quality loss.
