Can anyone tell me why minecraft's bandwidth has to be so high on SMP? Look at games like Cube2, it has a large mapping aspect and uses 10-20X less bandwidth? I can't Play SMP because of this, i'm in a rural area so all i can get here is a Verizon Aircard, with a 5 GB a month limit, this is barely enough for me for just internet browsing, if i wanna play some minecraft with my friends, i almost always get near going over, and get yelled at by my parents (5 Cents a MB if u go over).... Any ideas on why it's like this?
Woahhhhhh 5 cents a mb? thats crazy man. i live in canada, we have notoriously high rates, but my limit is 150gb for 70 bucks amonth, with $1.50 a Gig if we go over.
Man thats high. Im pretty sure that minecraft uses about a 100mb every like 3 hours. Try to not play as often, your limit is tinny. i do 5x your limit in day sometimes.

I Could live with that as ours is 5GB for 80$....
But, ive seen it use so much more, i was monitoring my active upload/download rate, and it was doing like 5 up and 15 down or so every 10 minutes in a server with two people?
