Do you remember when we had beaches?
Do you remember when there was a quirky world we could explore with inviting forests?
Do you remember when you built your little cobblestone shack, with no crevasses or caves nearby?
...Do you remember MINECRAFT?
I miss the old forests, the pine trees in forests completely ruin the aesthetics for me, it doesn't feel right at all. I haven't seen a beach in so long...
There are also too many caves and ravines now, I just want a normal, basic landscape!
Who's with me?

I've been working on a Warcraft mod an incredibly long time. Just you wait, people.

I REMEMBER THAT DAY WHEN IT CAME OUT TO ALPHA!!!!!! BEST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While I can't completely dismiss all the new features as for the worse, I did recently play Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 from a jar file I had left and it was certainly more colorful and lively. There was so much variety and mystery. I do miss the old terrain generator and I hope that they change the one we have now.

"Most test subjects do experience some, uh, cognitive deterioration after a few months in suspension. Now, you've been under for quite a lot longer, and its *not* out of the question that you might have a *very* minor case of serious brain damage! But, don't be alarmed, alright? Uh, although if you do feel alarmed, try to hold on to that feeling because that is the proper reaction to being told that you've got brain damage" - Wheatley Link Removed
But I also miss being a noob TBH, I miss finding things out for the first time, I guess.
I know what you mean, but if you downloaded a mod pack like the technic or something, it will blow your mind. Also thaumcraft makes you figure stuff out
I just don't understand the World Type option. It's there, but grayed out. I'm actually pretty sure that we will be getting old world gen sometime soon.

Variety? OK, help me out here, 'cause the logic isn't working out for me. How does removing features in the terrain generator increase variety?
I look back on the old version of Minecraft and I think to myself "look how boring it used to be in comparison". It's no Skyrim even now, but at least things have changed and gotten better.
When you generate a world there is this (currently) unusable bar that will change the way terraign is generated. I bet a future version is going to have an Alpha-like generation system.
I realy miss those beaches and flat terrain though, I loved those.
Being able to raise animals and grow food is nice. But HAVING to because food doesn't naturally occure at all on its own is rather annoying. As far as I've seen once you kill an animal thats it, its dead... And if they bred on their own it would probably end up like 500 humping chickens I walked in on when I loaded up an b1.8 in 1.0.
I miss starting on a beach, not a swamp.
Still haven't added the one critical thing I want most and thats increasing the sky's ceiling.

No caves? That's no fun...
Get some modder to remove the few lines of code to generate pine trees...
You can turn off ravines, etc by turning off the 'generate structures' option.
But I also miss being a noob TBH, I miss finding things out for the first time, I guess.

I so agree with this.
I didn't say no caves, I just don't want so many holes on the surface.
And ravines aren't structures, Mineshafts, Villages and Strongholds are structures.
I don't want a mod, though, I'd make one if I did. I just miss basic vanilla.

Yeah, I agree with that.
I thought they were, but oh well :/
They also changed the cobblestone textures :sad.gif:
I don't mind the new one, it's just weird.

I was the second person to use the avatar I have. The rest took it from me. The first I asked, he said yes.
I know what I'm doing. I plan ahead, or get tired and screw up everything.
FARMcraft is really boring.

Everyone goes through this at one point or another
it's something you can only experience once per game =/
And that's fair enough.
The main thing I really don't like is the gloominess and depressing feeling that the pine forests give off.
Time flies, but so does my pig.
