I remember seeing in the wiki that the Nether was listed as a biome, when I asked on the Minecraft help IRC what it was called someone said he thought there were about three or maybe more, does anyone know what these biomes are called?
I just read the whole nether wiki page.It said that it was a fixed bug when it was a biome .And in smp there is a bug where the worlds merge. Also, nether NPC villages spawn from netherbrick, which is pretty interesting .

Aww I must have overlooked that... :/
Worlds merge?
The Nether is technically a biome. It has a generator, a mob spawnlist, etc. It just only occurs in the Nether dimension, and is the ONLY biome that occurs in the Nether dimension.
In terms of biomes as variations in the terrain, no, there are no other biomes besides the usual.

So there is a biome in the Nether? Are you sure it is called The Nether? Not just Nether or something?

It's called Hell in the code, but that's just the MCP people.
For all intents and purposes, the Nether has no biomes. There's only one terrain generator that is used, only one spawnlist, etc. Technically, in the code, the Nether generation is programmed as a biome. The world then only generates this biome in the Nether and generates only this biome in the Nether.
Going back to the OP, no, there are no "biomes" as a layman would describe them, just the Nether.

So... if a mod were to have stuff you can have spawn in a biome you set it to, if you set it to Hell it won't work?

A mod that set the Nether biome's spawnlist to include a mob would work; the mob would then spawn in the Nether. It won't ever spawn in the overworld, because the "Hell" biome does not occur in the overworld.
What I meant previously is that if you mean biome as a change in how the world looks, there aren't any changes in the Nether because there's only one biome. Sorry if I'm confusing you.

This mod is not for mobs specifically though technically it does come with mobs but I digress, HUZZAHS ARE IN ORDER! o.o
Secret project to be done then... I hope no one who knows of what I am speaking of sees this and finishes the same thing before me.

It's the way Minecraft is coded, all world generation is listed as some type as biome, the only difference is that it only appears in the nether world files.

As long as it is a biome then that shouldn't matter
if the nether is a biome, like everyone is saying, is there any way to force it to appear in the overworld (i know there used to be bugs but i mean 1n 1.0)

Is it a biome though? I don't really care how many there are I just want to know if there are any at all.

Those are a structure and a feature of the Nether biome, respectively.

But no, currently, it's all 1 biome.
