Sadly I believe that the optimal solution, that would please everyone, can only be a screen where, like settings, you decide what you want your world to look like. Think of more/less caves, size varieties, height fluctuations, checking biomes on and off, biomes blending etc. Even then, not everyone is ever going to be happy about it but it would hand a whole lot more options.
I believe it would be better if there was so much variation that you could explore and explore through brilliantly dangerous landscapes until you found that perfect spot, instead of just adjusting some sliders and BOOM there you go.
Are sub-biomes possible? do you mean, like a an occasional feature? Kinda misleading.
Sub-biomes are possible and in fact, they are on Minecraft (the (insertbiomenamehere)hills, rivers, etc.). He was surely talking about a technical biome like I said before just on a different term.
Not trying to sound ignorant or anything, but what all does the letter entail? Is it just the suggestions/observations that people have made on this thread, what features made the older terrain so enjoyable, how the terrain could be improved from what it is now, or is just kinda a mixture of all those things?

It is a mixture. I saw the letter before it became private on Dec. 26.
Are we thinking of the same company? This is Mojang, a tiny indie game company, not your serious stuck up business. They're the guys responsible for villagers with massive noses, a velociraptor april fools box, and exploding green monsters. They ain't a serious business, bro.
I figure they've made a ton of money, they have really nice digs so there's no reason to not make everything look as good as possible.
They may not be a serious company but you guys seemed really serious about getting noticed and effecting change. It was a surprise The letter looked nicely laid out from the pictures. That's all.
I'm getting old so I guess letters are important to me.
Yeah that's what I thought too. I don't want to be rude but really? It's so ridiculous and unprofessional. If I received that at my business I wouldn't take its contents very seriously. Geeze OP you have access to a printer, you couldn't print up a label?
Don't really have dyslexia or parkinson's. Either way, I thought that actually writing it would have made it seem like more of a personal matter rather than a business letter. People hardly get personal letters anymore and this doesn't include the crap you find in your mail everyday. Most mail you get has labels so at least it's a differentiation.
Call me cynical but I have a feeling this won't be far from the reality. The mail will no doubt be opened by a lacky/secretary, who will no doubt think it's just fan mail and dump it. Businesses employ people like this specifically for that reason - as a firewall. In the company where I work, we do technical support, but occasionally people write us letters requesting support. We normally work by email/phone, and apart from exceptionally rare circumstances where we must reply to maintain a healthy business relationship, the letters are dumped without replying. The boss won't even see the majority of letters coming in to the company addressed to him. The same applies here - Mojang replying to the letter sent won't affect their income or severely impact their customer relations, so if they do reply it'll merely be a goodwill gesture. As I say, call me a cynic but I'd bet a heavy wager that nothing will come from this except "thank you for writing to us... bla bla bla sincerely Mojang"... if you're lucky.
A letter has already been sent and responded to. It was not as large or detailed as the one currently being processed and Dinnerbone himself posted on this forum.
I know it is a long read, but people seeking to post here who have not done so before should read every post up to the most current one. Talking about things that have been settled ages ago only serves to add more confusion.
A letter worked before, Dinnerbone got it himself, responded personally to this thread (a response that was unsatisfactory to many here), and that is what prompted the second letter.

Well, Mojang doesn't really have a *lackey/secretary. They have MinecraftChick but she's not the type to dump out fan mail. Mojang isn't a big business AT ALL. They have only 16 people working there, all of them awesome and nice. Not the sort of business to have mail exterminating lackeys if you ask me. Plus they've already responded to a letter, sooo...
This damn poll is making me mad as hell. Does anyone know why it constantly disappears?
Also, about the letter. Dinnerbone is known to lurk around the forums so I'm pretty sure he's seen the pictures already, therefore he knows what the letter will look like.
GUYS!!! Did they do any small adjustments to the generator in the new snapshot? I've been walking around and I haven't found ONEE endless cave. I've found three or four and they've all been duds. This is really weird to me. It's the first time I've spawned in a world sine 1.7 without tons of endless caves. Does it have any thing to do with large biomes? I think I may have acidentally used that option.

I think you will find Mojang are indeed a business, and while you may not think so, they WILL have someone who filters out the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. They must get a lot of fan mail, a whole heap of crap, and probably the occasional hate letter. I'll be delighted if the letter reaches where it is supposed to, and even happier if something becomes of it - but I'm being realistic here, and saying that I think it'll be a waste of time. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't think I will be.
I was unaware that a letter was sent previously, but I have seen dinnerbone's response here. the proving point being, nothing became of it. Call me a cynic but I don't think a round two will help either.

All we know is that danix's letter was received and responded to. We also know that Mojang really doesn't appreciate feedback in the form of email or tweets (at least the emails (I heard Jeb or DB say it before)).
What we don't know is their response, and no one can really predict the future. We put more stress on the issue and this topic is still up, even after a year. It doesn't look like it'll be down any time soon, so we'll just have to stop making speculations.

I don't think there should be no lakes on deserts but they should be a lot more rare.
So far this is the most detailed post ever. *sarcasm*
Do you mind explaining why?
Well, you get my point, thought I would rather they we in some sort of oasis sub-biome.
Are sub-biomes possible? do you mean, like a an occasional feature? Kinda misleading.

^^ What he said plus beaches. I've always heard them called sub-biomes, but yeah, technical biomes and sub-biomes are the same.
It is a mixture. I saw the letter before it became private on Dec. 26.
I have dyslexia so I sympathize. My hand writing is like serial killer chicken scratch. I was harsh but that's why I said a printed label.
No, that's not much better from what I can tell, a bit.

Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
