Once again, that is not what this thread is about. We don't want the old terrain back. We want an improved terrain.
Lol man whenever someone says that I see you or someone else feel they must post that this thread does not want the old generator back. He probably knows you don't want the old generator back and decided to say that, on the contrary, he does. Its his opinion. Hence why he sais "IMO."

yes exactly i say IMO but he dont see i am tired of the people say that dont want generator back but the old generator is a 100000000 time better than new generator and too alpha gen too is cool
if someone say that dont want generator back i wont reply!! i am not flame nobody is that i am tired of alls say it

It's his opinion that he want's the terrain generator back. It's the opinion of the supporters of this thread that we don't want the terrain generator back (that includes the OP). I know he knows, but it's important to make sure the people reading this for the first time understand what the thread is about. It's still about making improvements to the current generator.
If he doesn't like being corrected about that, he should make his own thread.
He could also just use one of the many methods of actually using the old generator. It IS available after all...
We also do not endorse the return of past generators or a new world option.
If you want to discuss these said features, you are in the WRONG THREAD.
The topic of this thread is a question: "did the terrain become boring?" and a search for a way to fix the current terrain generator to make it less boring. This is stated in the OP, and has been reiterated throughout the 500+ pages of this thread.
Discussion about a return to a past terrain generator is considered off topic, not only because the OP specifically says so, but because it's not a reasonable possibility. If you wish to return to a previous generator, please make an appropriate thread for that suggestion, or use one of the numerous methods to actually use the old terrain generator.

I'm not sure why, but this post was deleted. It's respectful, true, and doesn't violate the rules of this forum.
So does anyone think Mojang will be doing anything related to the density of trees/shrubbery in terrain? I really think it needs to be a bit more random. Like this forest: http://imgur.com/TplKVKm
It's rather boring with trees spaced out the same throughout the entire biome. It also lead to ugly transitions between biomes with no trees and those with many. Kinda relates to the topic of biome transitions I suppose, but I'm mainly wondering what their plans are (if any) for the density.

It's not the density that's the problem it's the height, the midget oak trees that looks like bushes. If the trees are maybe 8-10 blocks tall it'll look like a true forest.

I think if we heighten the density of the trees, the forest would look like a roofed forest. But still, you pose a point, sometimes trees are spaced so far from each other that clearings appear in the forests.

Tree density is one of the major problems with the terrain for me, as it's fixed per chunk. It's what makes every forest the same. If random tree density was re-added, it should be similar to the system before 1.8, where forests could be dense (but not so dense that you find roofed forests), not dense where you'd find clearings and anything in-between.
As for tree height variation, I think there should be many more oak designs which would be mostly taller that the 4-5m high trees that we find currently.
Ehh I've been kinda 50-50 on the terrain and I think I've said so before, but the terrain has grown on me, and, with the new/upcoming biomes like Mega Taiga, Mesa, Savanna, Plateau, etc, I'm really looking forward to 1.7.

The terrain, in my opinion, is ok, but not great. I like that they tried to add new biomes, but I don't think they did as good of a job as they could have.

Yeah, random tree density seems good, that way we'll have varied forests.

Why can't it both vary in density and height?

I agree. I also find it stupid that the large oak trees only spawn in Extreme Hills and Jungles.
It's my favourite version of the game.
