Yes. He promised zombie seige, adventure mode and used to update every friday. When Minecraft went into beta he got noticably lazy and took a lot of vacations. I'm not saying Minecraft is a bad game just he didn't make it live up to the expectations he gave everyone that bought during Alpha.
Oh yeah, and I am sure as the saint you are, you wouldn't want a break from that after you became a millionaire.
No disrespect to Notch, but Jeb doesn't have that tendency to add things and then never do anything with them. Hopefully this will signal some improvements to old content as well as meaningful new content.

On the other hand, every single change or nerf that has been reviled so far has been due to Jeb. This includes breaking mob traps, changing the potion-crafting system to its current watered down state, and making the Silk Touch enchantment so bad that non-Silk Touch tools are actively better, with very few exceptions.
After this crap with the Yogscast, I'm glad. I've always defended him, but what kind of ass posts all that on twitter? What a hypocrite. Talk about unprofessional? Look at yourself in the mirror man.

If its in beta/alpha then it isn't really a promise. Plus, now that Minecon and the release is done they can concentrate on adding more content at a slower pace, with less bugs and problems.
Annnnd for all the naysayers, we have confirmation in the form of this Tweet from @jeb_:

@MinerFlat64 I will still be fulltime Minecraft, but Notch will be working on new projects
Jens Bergensten tweeted that. You know him, he's Minecraft's development lead.

So Notch can relax a bit, and then start a new project, knowing that he left Minecraft in good hands.
Since Notch considers Minecraft's design to basically be complete, he's moving on and leaving the project to Jeb.
Why is it so important to you that Notch work on Minecraft? Would you have him be tied to Minecraft forever like it's a ball and chain? He's worked on Minecraft for over two years! Can't he go design another fun game for us to play?
Looks like that stuff I said upthread was right on the money.
Okay, all kidding aside, I'm glad that there's finally word one way or the other that you guys will accept. If it had turned out that jeb's lead status was temporary while Notch recharged his batteries, I would have come back here to post that I'd been wrong, and that you guys knew the situation better. I just wanted to know the score, and the info was frustratingly hard to get. As far as I saw, it was never mentioned on any of the live streams from Minecon.
A couple of things come to mind due to the way this change has been communicated:
IGN and gamespy didn't understand the value of this news to Minecraft users. This is big news which was buried.
For all its supposed openness, Mojang's communication with its fanbase is surprisingly ineffective.
Honestly, I feel all that Mojang still needs to do in Minecraft is fill in some content holes (ex: mod support, Testificate AI) and squash some of the more persistent bugs the game still has. After that, let the modding community have at it, src and all.
My opinion is quite similar to yours, differing only in having Mojang do a bit more. But after watching the Minecon live streams and reading recent Minecraft coverage, it seems to me that you and I have clearer visions for Minecraft than Mojang does at this point!
This.... Is untrue. I'm sorry, but don't you think that if notch was really doing this, like as much as you guys are assuming he is, that it would be posted on official news articles?
You guys are misinterpreting jebs tweets, in my opinion.
When I see a news article about it, I'll beleive you.
Jeb didn't say Notch was working ONLY on new projects. He said notch was working on new projects, in contrast to him ONLY working on Minecraft. Please don't post conspiratorial ******** on the forums next time. Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Not to mention you're just doing it for attention. That alone is bad enough.

PlanetSide 2 Megathread because why not?

Wait for it...
I told you so.

+1
Thankfully it's temporary.
