sick of looking for flints in gravel? well here's an easy way to get flints without having to look for gravel if you already have some gravel just place it down and dig it up until you have some flint now I admit this isn't the best type of farm it can still be good if your looking for some flints. If you want to say you already knew about this or flints aren't that important pointing it out is pointless because I couldn't care less.
Yes, I tend to do that.
You could call it "easy way to get flint"
Which in truth, isn't all that really.
I actually wish I got less flint and more gravel for my NPC village world...
A farm doesn't doesn't imply automatic harvesting. You have to do work in an actual farm. An automatic farm would imply automatic harvesting.
Actually an automatic farm is one where it replants the item/grows it constantly without the builders help.
A gravel farm, however, implies one of two things. And since you don't get "gravel seeds" to grow your own gravel, I went with the more likely choice of automatic harvesting.

This seems like a giant waste of time when I can just build a tower of gravel, knock out the bottom one, place a torch right there, and have it shoot out flint instead.
It's rather simple. Place about 3-4 torches in a row, go up 3 blocks with a wall and place the gravel on the wall so it falls into the torches. Rinse and repeat until you are out of gravel.
Do people really have such a hard time finding flint that they are exploring alternate methods of obtaining it? I find the stuff to be in abundance, and often a plague upon my storage chests.

If a gravel falls into non solid-block it will turn into gravel and will NEVER turn into flint.

Why dont you make a gravel pillar then after you run out of gravel, try digging straight down to the gravel.
Repeat until all of them turn into flint.

That won't yield you any flint. Flint only drops if you break the block yourself.

What else could I call it?
I knew someone would find a way to complain
flint deposits? never heard of it.

Theres no such thing in Minecraft. You just find flint from digging/mining gravel.

I meant gravel deposits; you know what I meant.
You can't harvest gravel...

sometimes, when I am at home alone and I cant get to sleep, I like to cover myself if Vasalene and pretend that I am a slug.
