I've played minecraft since Beta 1.2, and the one thing that kept tugging on my mind is, when do I stop? When do I move on to another map? All I really do is build a house, find coal, find iron, find diamond, farm obsidian and build a portal. That for me is done. But what is REALLY finishing minecraft? Is it finding clay? Is it taming a wolf? Is it starting a farm? Making giant battle arenas? Making slime farms? I don't know. Luckily for me, there are millions of people that play Minecraft. What is finishing Minecraft? How do you finish Minecraft? Those are the two main questions I'm asking.

When I deleted my cookies, I've noticed that every biscuit in the house dissapeared.
I think this is one of the reasons why Notch is going to introduce the bosses in 1.9. At this moment it is just gathering resources and build without any ending..
Hmm... Very good point! I've hadvn't taken 1.9 into consideration.

it is impposible to complete minecraft even when he adds the bosses u have a next to no chance to find one sense strongholds only spawn once per world and sense you never complete it you keep expanding your house farm storage area and ect until you have a caste, then build one in the sky. It doesnt matter what you do as long as u have fun and you build like minecrafts original intention lol
I agree with jumpy
Minecraft isn't about winning at all
if you play survival, it's about survivng
If you play creative, it's about making stuff out of blocks

So you wake up on a beach one day, and remember NOTHING. (Except your degree teachings in Engineering, Wilderness Survival, Metal work, Physics, Tech, Psychology, History, Dynamics, and Blocks.) You mine and build and survive for years and years.
I finish when the world holds nothing new for me, then I start a new one. However online always proves new and interesting because it's always different when you return and you want to out shine other players. So if ever you find single player boring, try an online server or invite some friends around for a LAN.

Some people say I'm egocentric, but enough about them.

Exactly what I do now. :laugh.gif:

To complete the game by mining you have to collect every valuable resource in every generated chunk
To complete the game by crafting you have to construct a redstone device that causes the world of minecraft to supernova into a new star
Alternatively you can complete the game by Exploration.
To do so you must reach the end of the world.
I like the end of the world part. That's a big goal, so maybe that could be peoples' dreams...

I spent quite a while playing Single Player and I just keep building things and adding mods to make the game different all the time. I usually liked to use TMI and SPC back in 1.7.3 and I would just build massive structures and at one point I started pixel art.
Now that 1.8 is out I've started playing SMP with some friends I've made on the forums. It's always different in SMP. It's not that you just only play, but you can also talk about trivial things and that adds a new perspective to the game.

THE SMARTEST AND STRONGEST IN GENSOKYO IS NONE OTHER THAN CIRNO!
You complete minecraft by mining every single block and colour coding, alphabetizing and creating a complete redstone powered recording of Rick Astleys' "Never Gonna Give You Up" and post proof of it on YouTube. That's only the first level.
Hmm... Very good point! I've hadvn't taken 1.9 into consideration.
