I dont understand how Terraria is so "awesome". I mean, it's 2D. The only good thing about Terraria is that it has more tools and monsters. Minecraft > Terraria
This poll is as biased as a MW3 vs BF3 poll on the EA forums
Terraria is somthing you can play for a bit but gets old after a while. When i first played it i thought it was better at minecraft at first, but after i exhausted all of the possibilites i went strait back to minecraft. To put it briefly, Minecraft just has so much more replay value.
There isn't any comparison. Terarria is a sidescrolling adventure game where you can move blocks and craft things. Minecraft is a 3d game with mostly an RPG feel to it where you can move blocks and craft things.
They are EXTREMELY different games with their only similarities being the ability to move blocks and craft things. Terarria's focus is combat and crafting while Minecraft's focus is exploration and building. Two HUGELY different games. Stop trying to compare them.

Terraria isn't nearly the same as Mincraft as people would have you believe. Terraria focuses almost strictly on combat. And I have to admit, the combat is better, and much more fun. Who doesn't like hanging with the Ivy Whip inside a cave while you kill stuff? The Blood Moon and goblin invasions are sweet as well. Such things would be nearly impossible with Minecraft. The lag would be horrible.
Minecraft Is Minecraft, Terraria IS Terraria, Why Cant We All Get Along?
I agree. Why choose either one over the other? I play both. They both have their merits. Minecraft is about building, Terraria is about fighting. Even Notch likes Terraria. As the closest competitor to Minecraft (as if there was such a thing!), Terraria is still good enough to garner his admiration.
Both you ignorant idiot.
1. Its different genre. you cant compare Runescape and Counter Strike.
2. Minecraft and terraria have the same basis, you can't judge something because it lacks a z dimension. if you didnt get that please GTFO.
3. Why do we have to make a choice? cant we have both?
Its like "What is your fu**ing favourite colour? ALL OF THEM YOU RESTRICTING SOCIETY!

I bought Terraria about a month ago while it was $5 to dis it in a comparison with Minecraft. However, because you need to play a game to judge it, I realized how different and fun it was. It's really enjoyable if you put aside the whole 'Terraria is a knockoff of Minecraft' and just play the game as it was meant to be played. You can get more hearts for your health meter, tons of weapons, lots of different places to explore, a few bosses, NPCs, etc. Terraria has a lot going on in it and keeps the player busy.
Minecraft is a great game, as well. You all know its aspects, and building is most certainly the main part, something that Terraria can't match up to. However, its underground exploration, crafting, and fighting is a lot more limited as of now. And of course, there's the price tag of $20, which can make all of the difference between getting Terraria or Minecraft.
If you look at them both broadly, they've got the same thing going on. Dig, craft, build, etc. However, they both have a completely different feel when you play them. In Terraria, you're compelled to dig further downward, go further on the map, find demonite, etc. In Minecraft, you're collecting the necessary materials to create a wonderful mansion, or underwater mansion if you're like me ;D
All in all, Terraria is my choice. It's cheaper, it's being updated regularly, and the game has really pulled me in. I enjoy Minecraft, too, but it's being updated very slowly and I didn't get pulled in like I did in Terraria.
tl;dr: They're both different. Terraria's more adventure, Minecraft's more creative. They have some similarities, but there's a completely different feel when playing them both. My vote is for Terraria, as the cost is low, updates are regular, and the feel of the gameplay.
I like minecraft more because minecraft has better immersion and tierraria makes you feel detached.
Also, the system they use for digging in tierraria is god awful, you just hit the click button rapidly, which hurts a lot while minecraft has you hold down the mouse button, making for a better and more precise/non finger breaking method of mining/block collection.
I also just prefer first person games over side scrolling games.
You're doing it wrong. You hold it down in Terraria, too.
And it's stupid to compare them since Terraria is kind of a platformer-shooter-mining :biggrin.gif: game and Minecraft is mining-sandbox. Totally different imho
Well Terraria eventually gets boring. why? it has a stop to the game, once you get the molten armor, killed all bosses, and got every single objecte in the game it yells out "you have won the game!" to me in my head. as in minecraft you can build build and build! its non-stop. and its alot more fun with all these mods too!

Or tierraria vs minecraft thread on the tierraria forums, tierraria is going to win.
Mainly because all game communities one way or the other have similarities.
Because Minecraft is WAY better than terraria.
If you voted terraria, leave this forum and never come back! :dry.gif:

BBQ, hands down.
You're ****ing kidding me...

Why would a platformer necessarily have to be 3D?

Didn't you get the memo? We live in a world now where there is only one standard, and everyones likes the same things.
Dude your a retard people have different opinions what your saying is that people can only like one thing and there is nothing wrong with terraria
Clearly, no one here is going to have any kind of bias.
minecraft>Terraria
