Why would this stop them? They could always not update, or they could just start anew.
Well a lot of the famous ones have more than 100 episodes, so its a pretty big world, and to just start recording all over again, but the series still going, just kinda seems odd to me.
They could continue using their old version, we may be able to keep our maps. If we can't, then I'm sending a message to Notch, as well as telling every on here that they should. LP's can still go on anyways, with an adventure twist. But, I hope that you can toggle the adventure thing on and off. If not, then I'm staying with 1.7.
Anything that would require major components to change breaks the game.
But that's not happening! It's something he made easier to do for modders and experimented with himself. He wasn't satisfied with how the game performed after the change, and explained, from the start, before he even mentioned it, that it was staying the same.
All pre-1.8 maps will still work, they just won't contain NPC villages or any other new features.
Please, this is a duplicate, needless thread in the first place, but spreading misinformation is just troublesome and unnecessary. A simple Google search or a look at his Twitter would reveal this in moments.

God dammit guys... Hight limit isn't changing. Notch was only simplifying it to one line of code to make it easier to mod...
The news is updated by someone not affiliated with mojang. Maybe if you check Notch's twitter you would see him clearly stating that 128 will still be the default hight limit.

Quoted for truth.
Why would an update break maps? People still have maps from 1.0 alpha if none of those up dates broke minecraft then I don't think this one will ether.

Actually maps that old would have been broken a while back. But the same patch that broke them also allowed you to convert them. So yeah, I don't know why people are always so worried.

Hence why they don't have to update... Please finish reading at least.
Take 10 minutes to build a couple nether portals and a rail line. Now you've generated new far away chunks and have all the features of 1.8. So, nothing will change...
Stop uploading? Continue Uploading?
They have to do one or the other, most will probably stop, due to new maps. I know we will have new maps due to map size change.

None of the changes that Notch plans are going to do anything but add to the game.
Experience? It's just a reward for living longer. It won't make you any weaker now.
Adventure mode? There is no adventure mode. All this update is doing is adding more interesting features and mechanics. Stop complaining.

Respond regardless.

Also, the height change is not happening.
