Most Let's plays are boring, there are far too many. Rather than a boring Let's play, maybe you should set some goals to it or add some rules to spice it up a notch. There's far far too many Let's Plays out there, if you make just a regular let's play, chances are it's never going to become popular.
A good world.
Interesting commentary.
Interesting commenters.
Interesting gameplay.
So on - the rest is to you.

It's hard waiting around for something that you know might never happen; but it's even harder to give up when you know it's everything you ever wanted.
Commentary - For CHRIST'S SAKE use a decent microphone, add some enthusiasm, humour, and variety to it. There's been at least 10 Let's Play series I've just skipped over because the person speaking is boring or hard to hear.
Mistakes - No one watches a Let's Play to see perfection incarnate. Mistakes add humour, surprise, and variety to the series very, very easily. While yes, repeatedly falling down a hole is something you can edit out, if it's a very rare thing that caught you off guard and had you in tears laughing / yelling, put it in.
Recognizable goals - While aimless wandering works well for some people, it pays to have a list of things you want to do, even if this isn't shown to your viewers. A logical example being:
A: Build shelter B: Map out immediate surroundings C: Build permanent housing D: Explore spooky cave E1: If you die, return and conquer it E2: Go out, prepare with food, armor, weapons, etc, then return to conquer it. F: Take viewer requests, etc.
Content that's based outside of Minecraft - While yes, it's a video ABOUT minecraft, if you're doing something inane or repetitive in MC, talk about something ELSE. So while you're whacking away at stone, don't be talking about how mining stone is boring, tell us about your day, things you like, discussion or thoughts. Give us something to take our minds off the 2x1 shaft you're digging.
That's what I like to see, at least. Good example being someone like MylesTime (who discontinued his LP), and also MyselfOverwhelmed (Love his stuff), and of course the Yogscast (Though they are a bit drawn out at times).
Indeed - this is pretty much the truth, my friend. If you can finish this, you got yourself a Notch.

Have a good "random" seed, if you have enough viewers allow them to have input on how your base is made.
