Firstly, I'm no engineer. But I've had so many ideas that might be possible to create within Minecraft.
The one I'd like to challenge you expert Minecrafters to create using Pistons and Redstone (obviously) is a walking machine. This (using an automatic cobblestone maker) might be possible on two levels of difficulty:
Easy: (relatively...) Have blocks that scroll, without any of the actual machine consisting of pistons that move.
Hard: Make a fully mobile and infinite (non-looping, to the constraints of the amount of pistons in your auto-cobblestone generator) walking machine, in which the pistons themselves move along with the machine.
Feel free to add suggestions. Please post links to your creation. I'd love to see how they turn out, and if this is even feasible!

The Easy one I at least know can happen. All you'd need is delays, so the legs that had touched down retract back up into the machine.
