Hi there guys i got a question i made a world using a seed in 1.4 (seed:zion) i was wondering with 1.8 coming out and 1.6 adding the cool tall grass if it was possible to move everything i built to a new world with the same seed what way when 1.8 comes i can update my world and keep the cool stuff i made
Easy, just get MCEdit. You could use the Select Chunk tool to make a .schematic file of any chunk with stuff in it then in the new map use Chunk Align to place it in perfectly.

And then i just started swearing because it was allowed, Then I said to the moderator: "Your a bad mod". Then i got jail permanent...
I'd jail you too for using a possessive in place of a contraction.
First, download MCEdit
Second, select the area you want to keep, and export it as a schematic.
Now, when 1.8 comes out (hopefully on sept 8th), create your world, then quit minecraft and load up mcedit
import the schematic, and place it where ever you want it to be.

I am the bone of my sword
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood
I have created over a thousand blades
Unknown to death, Nor known to life
Have withstood pain to create many weapons
Yet, those hands will never hold anything
So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works
so in other words this is nearly imposable
thanks for the info
If you have an area of buildings, simple select the blocks you want to keep in MCEdit then save as a schematic and then import into your new world.
Personally, I'm just gonna start a new map. I would feel like I was cheating importing my whole fortress into a new map.
