As the IGN article said, and as I rather see it, Terraria is a better GAME, while minecraft is a better sandbox and building experience.
Terraria has potions and a full herb/alchemy system, including potions to reverse gravity, walk on water, etc.
Terraria is for a sort of Metroid/Castlevania combat system... Really fun. It is a lot more survival intensive, combat is much smoother (To the day in minecraft I always have issues with spiders/Zombies almost always hitting me while I'm hitting them). Terraria is about mining to find chests, sky islands, With LOADS of mobs and such... Bosses.
Minecraft is what we obviously know it as. I like both, and Terraria is Certainly worth the money, and not just some garbage 2D clone, Notch himself even said that "It's clear they had some inspiration from Minecraft, so it is fair game to take ideas from them in return for future updates." And he said it was a fantastic game, that he even bought.
Terraria or Minecraft is not the question, its like Apples to Oranges.
Halo doesn't support mods, and neither does Terraria, but they both have mods created for them. Does this make Halo/Terraria worst than Minecraft? Not really.
Minecraft - Building/ some adventure (after adventure update it will obviously contain full adventure).
I actually like terraria more than minecraft though, i hate how people say that terraria is like minecraft. THEY ONLY HAVE VERY LITTLE THINGS IN COMMON (i think once ppl started seeing the enemies and blocks they started to say its like minecraft). Plus terraria has much more things to do in it than minecraft, thats why i got bored of minecraft quicker.
i don't know why people go to the opposite game website of the game they like (that are compared)
it's like if i went to the terraria website to say minecraft is better
Bah, Minecraft is itself a cheap clone of Wurm Online... something Notch worked on himself....hehehe
Folks, the more sandbox style games we get that do well, the more impetus there is for companies to make them in the future and for them to try and one up each other for our dollars. I bought all three and love them for what they are. Do the same and you support the idea of future endeavors.
I don't know why people are ripping on Terraria, the developers there show nothing but appreciation to Minecraft for inspiration and are thus trying to influence their own fanbase to not attack Minecraft.
I play both games evenly as I love them both. Terraria has things Minecraft doesn't and Minecraft has things Terraria doesn't. If I'm bored or frustrated with something on Minecraft, I'll turn to Terraria and the other way around.
And really, I don't see how Terraria is ripping off Minecraft. Sandbox games have existed since long before, you're going to say they've been stealing from Minecraft?

WE DONT NEED THIS IN DISCUSSION!
