Herobrine is the subject of an old scare-story, where a person with the default skin, and completely white eyes appeared in singleplayer games.
He is actually a retextured painting or iron door of the default skin with no eyes. This originated a long time ago, when a "creepy-pasta" was made about Herobrine.
Me commentary:
I dont know about herobrine so much but i saw him other day...
i was mining coal.. he was runing..
i get scared and i closed minecraft
Today: I was on the search for the demon wolf but in me silly search i saw a thing moving...
in me cave... i get scared but i dindt leave me friends ask what happen
and here is the proof a image
"i end him"? So, you're thinking that you can defeat Herobrine? NO WAY. He showed up in my cave one day, but he was with something like an "invisible shield", and he killed me just looking at me. I tried to return to my cave to a revenge, but he was not there anymore. Minecraft have a "creepy" secret.......
(LOL the story is false but is cool xD)

False very false indeed.
If it was real it would be in the minecraft jar.
Actually that would be false. The idea behind Herobrine is that he isn't programmed into the game. He shouldn't exist in the first place, and yet he does. Herobrine is supposed to be the ghost of Notch's dead brother. You can't... atleast as far as I can tell... program a ghost into a video game.
So the truth is, if Herobrine were real, we'd really only be able to know for sure is if we experience it ourselves. Because of mods and other such things, it's not like any video or screenshot will prove otherwise.
You would be able to go through each and every line of coding and never be able to find him in thereand yet you'd still be able to see him in game doing whatever it is he does.
People seem to forget the ghost part of the story of Herobrine.
Herobrine is real, and I can tell you where to find him. *pours three fingers of scotch and takes a swig*
First, son, ya gotta get yerself a full suit of diamond armor. Very important. Next, ya dig down to the lava level and find a pool at least three deep. Ya see, the basterd is immune to lava so he uses tunnels under these pools as entrances to 'is base under the bedrock. Once ye find the pool, jump in and swim to the bottom of the tunnel. You gotta be real quick, but the diamond armor should ensure ya live long enough to make it. Once you're down there, you gotta equip a full stack of slimeballs and punch him with the slime in yer hands. Bet you thought slimeballs were useless, but really, Notch left 'em in just in case some poor sap got in over 'is head. It won't be an easy battle, son, but you make damn sure you win it. If you don't, it's game over. Not in minecraft, in real life. If Herobrine kills ya, he can leap from the computer into your body, trapping you in he game forever, while he's free to roam the real world. That's why no one ever tells you how to fight 'im. They just hope you'll never try if you don't know. But me, I think you got what it takes to save us all, kid.
