I am planning on making a Minecraft 16X16 texture pack for the first time ever. I was looking for some tips i.e. programs, colors, ect. I am planning on using photoshop (Unless I am told otherwise).
You need to make the textures flow. If you do a 'simple' texture on some blocks, you need to stick with that theme or the rest of the pack will look like ass. If you do a realistic, you need to make everything look realistic. There's nothing worse than having a windwaker-esque texture pack with misa's realistic looking blocks.
Another tip is to add noise to everything (not if you're doing a simple, clean pack, but there are over 1000 of those already..), and make it tile well. While it might look bad ass up close, and by itsself, that dirt block you just made might look atrocious with 100 more next to it. Making a good pack requires alot of testing, trial and error.

Thank you for the tips. I hope to work on my texture pack and hope to make it one of the best (though there is a lot of competition) Anyway, thanks.
Click it or it will die...A cold painful death.
