HD Recording software = this project is going to be awesome.
I think that to keep track of how long the track is besides counting out the entire distance of it, when we place down a stack of track we place a sign... count the signs and multiply by 64.
2 days to the far lands would be the best minecart ride ever, besides doing it without the nether (months of minecart riding, would burn your computer out before you got there :biggrin.gif:).

I think Creepers just need a hug. Turn that frown, upside down!

I wonder how big the save file will be... And if a mapper can handle it (I want a top-down view when (if) it gets done)

Better idea. Count by 1000's, not 64's. Thus, your sign can be set up like this:
Millions (0+)
Hundred Thousands (0-9)
Ten Thousands (0-9)
Thousands (0-9)
So, as you pass block/segment # 2,756,000 ... you'd see a sign that read:
2 - TWO
7 - SEVEN
5 - FIVE
6 - SIX
(Use trailing spaces to make the numbers themselves line up.)
Also, I suggest a different design. More materials-intensive, but also more aesthetically pleasing IMO:
-Wheat Farm
-Mob trap
-Tree farm
-Storage room
-Main hall will these things on signs, people can take them down when they are completed
Oh, and Notch tweeted that powered rails are getting buffed, yay!
Also, does anyone care to make a banner?

It'll feel less claustrophobic. Plus, you can hang your signs on blocks placed on the ceiling, like so:

My idea:
=Track
=Redstone Torch
Waaaaaitttt.... We can place RS torches on the side too, but then you need 2x the redstone.
this is another idea
:--+:= RS torch or normal torch (or sign)
So we don't need a roof or side to place a light source
edit: GAHHH SMILIES ARE HARD TO WORK WITH.
I'd love to help, but I won't be able to play for any great length of time until maybe June 5th.
Please Whitelist me.
Allrighty!
Thank you!
Done.
Try again...
