It's fairly retarded how people like myself find faults with a game, and now the other side of the argument calls it schoolyard level fighting.
Seriously guys, I'll ask this question for the 83476428937439274th time, if I or anyone else am dissatisified with a product, are you saying we are denied the ability to voice our opinion and complain?
If so please get in touch with reality, one thing we do as humans is complain about things that aren't satisfactory.
Though I am happy Notch FINALLY decides to work....this was until his dumb posts about MinecraftCon though....
Another holiday anyone?

You should look into my posts, I'm not saying 1 side is resorting to school yard arguments. Its both sides. half of the arguments in this thread are just picking at anything they can get their teeth into. Ask dabiggman or atiaxi which side I stand on. They should know.

Oh, hush already. To many whiners with no idea about whats going on.
The alternative, is it could have NOT been released until it was finished. Would you really honestly prefer that?
Many ideas and things in game might have never been without all the community feedback.
And HONESTLY, how much do you REALLY know about game development? Dont lie and give me ******** answers either, what do you REALLY know? Most games you would never have gotten to play till release. The reason for this is people like YOU. Who want to complain about every god damned thing. The game isnt done. simple as that. Notch and Mojang can take as many vay-cay's as they want, I'm sure if you could peek into the dev of most other popular high profile games, it isnt workworkworkwork Allllll day.
Game developers are gamers, same as all of us. If i had my dream job like that, in a cool company with cool people, I'm sure I'd spend a fair amount of time goofing off as well.
Anyways, the bottom line. As far as you know the dev of this game is on pace with average games of its size. Just because Notch took the unique step of allowing people to buy and play the game from the beginning of dev, doesnt mean that your rare (partial) glimpse into the life of a budding game makes you an expert or in ANY position to question what they do or the pace they release the game.

Sure, complain if you don't like what you're getting. The problem with it is that this isn't the complaints board. It's the discussion board. And if you're just going to repeat things that have already been said ad nauseum and insult other posters by saying they're a waste of a post, you're not discussing anything.

Actually I would prefer if the release got delayed because as it stand now the release means nothing except a price increase and the possibility of future content updates costing money to beta and later users.
Of all the times in game development, the time complaints are most crucial are while the game is unreleased since that is the time where change and bug fixes are easiest to handle. Also game developers tend to have longer hours than other jobs because of deadlines for the games and the magnitude of the projects, goofing off generally doesn't help the business much.
I cant even make a proper suggestion because the "View your posts" has been down for weeks!

Im assuming curse didnt just decide to make a minecraft forum one day, so notch obviously bought it. Since notch bought it, he should at least give two shits about it and call them up when something is wrong.
You are stupid beyond imagination. Notch never bought the forums, nor did he make them. So blame it on the forum admins.

What a day! So far, I've fixed 14 bugs. #coffee
This proves he is doing smth, but maan Notch is like fixing MINOR bugs (things that the average player who know nothing about java coding couldn't even figure out)
I think that Notch should hire COMPETENT people. He has like 40 million euro and he hasn't hired a competent team. Maybe they should drop the java coding and move to something more professional. Or just keep it java but make it better. They wouldn't have so many bugs if there was someone in Mojang who could actually code (and no, I don't think they'll lose their "indie" status if they hire someone. If that's the matter then they've already lost it when they made 40 million euro)
Sorry if I have some grammar FAIL. Not a native english speaker.
Lol he does not have 40mil euro do you know how heavy taxes and stuff are in sweden he prob has like 20million now which is still alot.Guys seriously stop complaining Notch made this game we play it thats the internet sur he takes many vacations but atleast he MADE A DECENT GAME WE CAN PLAY and you guys bought it cheap also so stop complaning seriously
I can't even begin to figure out why so many people posting in this thread seem to be under the impression that people expecting updates to be a bit more frequent, realistically, means they want "Notch to do whatever they want."
No.. it means they expect more frequent updates, something i completely agree with personally, not only does Notch have a team now, where he didn't before, he quite honestly has a small fortune. Heck he has enough money to finance a AAA title if he wanted, much less keeping people WORKING on Minecraft, he's slowly just dragged everyone he hired away to work on -other- games.

Are you saying that he shouldn't be investing a lot of money back into minecraft?
Since Mojang formed Minecraft should have been getting more/better updates. As we have seen from the updates since beta started this isn't the case, only one person has ever been added onto Minecraft (Jeb) and he is now taken off to work on another project. So now it is only Notch working on Minecraft while they are in "Crunch Time" since release is only 6 months away. It seems that the quality of Minecraft updates had not gone up since Mojang was formed which is really contrary to what should have happened.
Notch is slack, people need to wake up to themselves.
If they actually think he does work I'd like to know what he does cause so far it's spending money we gave him that he should be spending on the company and not himself (such child logic there with the whole "hurrr if i wer milionare i wuld spend all da moneyz lul") and actually release some updates.
The final straw has broken with me.
Ironic. You are talking about child logic, yet your logic is not much more developed. I am 13, yet I understand that you are focusing on the absence of what you want and not the presence of what you have, but you say that "I would spend my money on things I want" is child logic? You wanna know real child logic? "I don't develop games, I don't even own a business, but I know that I would never spend the money I make on the stuff I want." How do you know that, smart ass? You don't own a company. You barely have the brains to acknowledge the fact that this game is in Beta and there are many problems to be fixed. But, if you can do better, go ahead and develop a game. Be my guest.

This, completely.
If anything the frequency of Notch's updates have gone down since he formed the company, I'm pretty sure all of us were expecting that he was forming the company so he could work on it FULL TIME. Instead he ended up hiring the bare minimum amount of people(he doesn't even have a support staff for hundreds of thousands of people buying the game!) Ontop of that he slowly moves everyone off Minecraft and seems to just be working on it himself to keep people buying.
I'll never understand what he's doing, or the logic behind it, Minecraft is STILL making much more then any other game they make likely will, and he's just letting the cash cow sit there and milk itself to death. You can only wait so many months before you realize that Notch just doesn't seem to be planning to expand, he put a company behind him just to sit there and work on Minecraft less then he did when it was his hobby, ironic.
I'm sorry was i interrupting tea time at work, i was under this silly impression that working on one game as opposed to another, at your office, has absolutely nothing to do with your free time. I also almost believed you may just be posting to add a completely pointless and out of context comment to this thread.
Going from 1 to more people on a project does not make it go faster right from the start. Don't forget that :wink.gif:
It takes some pressure off since there are several people to deal with a task, but it also adds a lot; ranging from a ton in coordinating, meetings, deciding upon things, getting interrupted ... to all sorts of other stuff slowing you down before a team starts being a well oiled machine..
Besides, we don't know how flexible Notch wants everyone to be, there is a diff between being assigned to mainly working on another task and fully doing something else.
It's been six months, whats the excuse?
Ontop of that Notch specifically tweets that he "moved people to work on another game" he even pointed out he is the ONLY ONE working on Minecraft now, give me a break.
I just discover this thread, I don't believe the first post... is it a joke ?
I bought a game "as it is" (I remember these words) and I felt lucky to be part of the alpha buyers. At this time, Notch would have given up MC and bought a villa in Spain to spend the rest of his life drinking coconuts, I wouldn't have been angry at him. I paid for the work he did.
This game is cheap and we probably all played this game longer than any other game. Buy a recent game and try to play on it for one year, I wish you good luck...
What, did we forget what a normal game is? Is this community so spoiled that some players think that they bought a game that MUST be updated constantly and for ever, that Notch must do all what we want because we paid his game? Who can blame a programmer because he takes vacations?
Let me get this straight, this game would have been somebody else's game we wouldn't have a such relation with the people who are making this game. And sometimes, I think that the mistake Notch did is that he is too close to the gamers and it's going the opposite of what he wanted.
I've never seen a guy from a company writing a personal blog about his game nor replying to tweets that gamers send.
I'm 33, I've played all my life and sometimes, I wish Notch to stop the game and do what he wants. Some players need to grow up.

Well that's where your opinion differs, you feel LUCKY, i feel like i PAYED and bought a product some other coder made, fun or not it's still a product really.

I fail to possibly see why you imply the money value we get out of the game doesn't mean you can't criticize someone failing to meet logical expectations. I don't care if EA made Minecraft, I'd still expect the same thing out of them if there's 20 mil+ riding behind the game.

Most games, about 90%, aren't ever played or purchased until they're released, Notch owes us a few months of updates at the bare minimum, simply because he didn't take our money and move to a private island. I'm cool with getting updates personally, but what he's doing in a business sense is just really distracting and annoying. It's like giving someone 10 apartment buildings to rent out and build a thriving business out of, and the only one living in them at the end of the year is.. rats.

What are you TALKING about? Notch doesn't even VISIT the forums, the only way ANYONE gets any say in what he does is if they tweet the hell out of him all day and he feels generous enough to read it. This game doesn't even have a support team and alot of people lose their accounts every day just because there is barely any way at all to even get in contact with Mojang, I could go email blizzard and I'd atleast get a nice damn auto reply from it.

You really should go on gamedev or a similar website then, people write articles about their games all the time. Thing about companies, is big companies usually are more sworn to secrecy while working on games, they don't get time, or even are allowed to post information until AFTER release. Notch's company is indy, it's small, and people aren't so paranoid in a small company then a giant one like Valve or Bethesda or something.

I'm not going to make a personal attack because that'd be really childish, but alot of people are your age or older, and never do much of anything just because they'd rather "play it safe." Notch has a chance to make a company that most people never will.
Quite a few developers have realized the fact that he's likely taking a more.. "laid back" approach, and it's disappointing. He has the potential to make the next big game company and it -appears- that he's just going to milk Minecraft to death then more or less retire, making small games with his company for fun here and there, and never have a dare to be great moment.
I guess in the end it's up to him, but being a community forum we're all more then perfectly allowed to voice our disappointment in it, he could atleast get a few more people working on Minecraft and make it 10x the game it is now, but even that may never happen. Go out with a bang.
