I've already lost faith in humanity a while ago, but this is just...
Think about it. In minecraft, you break blocks, you click on enemies to kill them, and you click to place blocks. That's the gist of it. how does a game so deprived of content and depth deserve so much praise? All these people are mindlessly voting for mojang without actually thinking about it. It's ridiculous!
What's the point of Mass Effect 2? You just run around shooting things and blowing things up. That's the gist of it. How does a game so deprived of sandbox play deserve so much praise?

I haven't played Mass Effect 2. That is not the question, I am simply asking how Mojang deserves this. you are simply dodging the question.
Also, blowing stuff up according to plot is actually pretty fun. :smile.gif: It gives you satisfaction when you destroy an enemy that presents a significant challenge. When you just run around placing blocks, I don't know about you but to me that lost its satisfaction a while ago.

What's the point of Minecraft? You just run around collecting stuff to stack.
What's the point of The Elder Scrolls? You just run around looking for stuff to stab.
What's the point of Super Mario Bros? You just run around looking tor the princess.
What's the point of Sonic the Hedgehog? You just run around looking for the way to the exit?
What's the point of Sim City? You just collect money so you can place more buildings to collect more money?
What's the point of The Sims? You just try not to die and get old.
What's the point of Dead Rising? You just run around for 3 days trying on clothing.
Funny how games can seem boring when you break them down into one aspect of their gameplay.

Because running around shooting things is FUN! Plus you can use biotic and tech based powers. Plus it looks so pretty. Plus it has lots of funny and epic stuff along the way.

Except that the games you mentioned, whether I like them or not, admittedly have actual content. Minecraft has a pathetic array of blocks which are used to forge arbitrarily better tools (wood>stone>iron>diamond, gold is unique, but useless to me) to mine more. The sole appeal of the game is artwork. However there are much better mediums to build artwork in, and at least in dwarf fortress you can have your projects utilized by virtual citizens with needs and demands.
What minecraft lacks is true function. Your structures serve no purpose, combat is monotonous and boring, and once you have diamond there is no more satisfaction available except by gathering more resources to build more stuff. he cycle has repeated for me to the point where I honestly can't think of anything I can't do either on paper or in Dwarf Fortress, a game where your hard work pays off and functions, as useless as the perceived function may be (such as a giant dwarf in which your dwarves live inside of, which drinks magma from a giant mug. You'd have to utilize pumps and such to make it work, whereas in minecraft you build it from the ground up and leave it at that.).
Really tough choice.
I'd be surprised if MC wins though. I'm debating on who has the bigger fanbase (I'm thinking Valve but I don't know their numbers off-hand).

I just updated to 1.4 (on a different computer than I usually play on) and suddenly realised I didn't have anything interesting to do without mods (though that's partly because the world I'm on is hardly developed at all).
Then the computer completely locked up (requiring forcible reboot) after about 30 seconds of play, as it tends to do on this computer :sad.gif:

Only in Minecraft does having a team and more resources pass for an excuse for not being able to keep up with a 15 year old modder who has school and homework and a nagging Mother.

All my Bioware gaming has been on PC though Steam.
And yeah it's hilarious to watch the tears and flames that come from Mojang being ahead :tongue.gif:

You know I find it kind of funny that when I first started playing Minecraft, it was primarily used by players to make pixel art of video game characters from all the companies it just beat in this little contest.
Don't you mean they? As far as I know I am not an employee or shareholder of Mojang and I'm not 100% sure but I'll wager you aren't affiliated with them past owning the game.
Let Mojang put forward the effort of beating them.

Why don't you uninstall steam if valve is so 'shitty'? They put updates out every day, and have had many more successful games than Mojang.

Will useless tautologies be tautologies?

Two of my favorite games against each other, I am honestly not gonna vote because I dunno.
