it just occurred to me that there's currently no way to distinguish between a group of tamed wolves according to the preview. They all look identical. Now, dogs are far too loveable for anyone to expect us to not name them, so we need a way of telling them apart.
My solution: Make dye work on wolves like it works on sheep. That way you can color your wolves and be able to tell them apart!

WHAT HE MEANS IS:
You can't tell the tamed wolves apart from eachother. They all have the same texture, including the same collar.
HE DOES NOT MEAN THIS:
I can't tell he difference between tamed and wild wolves.
The front of their neck turns brown if they are tamed. Though i think that is just temporary until he creates a real skin for tamed wolves.
Nevermind, misread post

There are constructive people, and there are destructive people. Minecraft caters to both. The destruction, however, requires construction. Therefore, destructive people must destroy other players' constructive work.
I meant multiple tamed ones. How can you tell the difference between rover and sparky?
Yeah, I misread that on your original post, though I think that would be cool, it would mean creating 15 different skins for wolves. I think we should just be able to craft dog collars that we could put on wolves to name them. It would give leather a new use.

Rainbow alpha wolf anybody?
Heh heh, I support this idea though. And when you make the collar you can choose to put a tag on it and it would be like the sign except yeah. And it would maybe have a floating nametag like names in MP...

P.S Do not say junk from Europe never works, because junk from America never works. Kay?
as I said, I'm talking about being able to distinguish multiple tame ones from one another. Like, let's say you tame two, and want to name one rover and one sparky. How do you tell which is which?

Chickneys are friends, not food. Same with pigs and cows. Not zombies though.

Thanks for that. I added it to the first post, to clarify.
right, I'm fairly certain that this would not be a difficult thing to add in to the game, from what I know about spriting and programming. Am I mistaken?

Well, sort-of. (without knowing what Minecraft's code looks like) it would be fairly easy to just make wolves dye-able the way sheep are, so you'd have bright blue and hot pink wolves running around.
Personally, I'd rather see something like random or procedurally generated fur patterns. So, "Spot" might have a spot on his back.

This would solve that.
then don't make one. Nobody's forcing you to. I on the other hand would LOVE a blue dog.

Not the F3 idea though, because that REALLY obstructs your view of the screen with that line graph.
That could work too! But it would be done the same way as dying sheep, by right clicking on the wolf while holding the dye, right?
My experience with suggestion sections on game forums has been... disillusioning.
