So, with the Beta Update 1.3, you now have the ability to create more than 5 worlds, you can name your worlds, and you can enter in a Seed for the World Generator.
I have stumbled upon something magnificent.
I was fooling around with the Seed World Generator thingy, to see if I could find any correlation between the code entered, and the Biome that you would start out in. I unfortunately could not. Until by sheer dumb luck, and my knowledge of horrible 90's songs, I might find a sure fire way of getting snow to cover any Biome you start out in, no matter what.
So far it works on three of my friends accounts, and my own, but I need you guys to test out my find.
Create a new world, name it whatever you want to, but in the box where it says: Seed for the World Generator, enter in the code:
IceIceBaby
Most of the time, it gives you a Taiga Biome, but I have gotten desert, swamp, tundra, rainforest, plains, and woods biomes.
Please give me feed back, I want to know if this works for everyone.

I wish I could beat you to death with your keyboard.
Yeah I read that already, and usually the "seeds" use numbers, not letters. I have tried different variations and such, and it never gives me an snow covered region.
Therefore, I have deemed it, a code.

Really? So you don't think they put that in intentionally?
If they were going to insert an Easter Egg seed, I'm fairly certain they'd do one more relevant to Minecraft or something Notch/Mojang is interested in. And it would also be very apparent that it was an Easter Egg. Generating a world with the letters "ice" in it somewhere and it being a snowy biome signifies about as much as smashing your keyboard or using a random generator to get the same result.
I'm not even sure if Notch knows what Ice Ice Baby is. I don't think he would be listening to much English music. Could be wrong.
Well even if its not an Easter Egg, it still lays down snow over whatever biome you start with, so there you go haha.
And the fact that "IceIceBaby" actually works, is funny as hell.

I would direct you to this thread for reference on more seeds that are being found that do seem to have some significance tied to them. Until someone decompiles the code and checks, we won't know if there is a comparison being made against a list of "secret code" seeds, or if they are all incredible coincidences.
Also, what are the odds that the phrase "IceIceBaby" would just happen to create a snowy region?
Assuming all biomes happen with about equal probability, 20% for a snowy one and 10% for taiga specifically. Not very long odds at all - high enough that it's not really surprising that someone who's playing the kind of guessing game the OP describes should find an interesting coincidence like that. Kind of up there with, "I just rolled a 10-sided die a few times and on one of them I got a 10! How crazy is that!?"
Another hit against the likelihood that it's deliberate is that the OP claims to have also gotten most the other biomes from the same seed. What are the odds that the programmers would decide to create an easter egg but make it only work sometimes?

I wonder now if there are more secret codes like this..?
Minecraft
What the hell Notch?

It's an Easter Egg.
No better or worse than any other phrase, actually.

Not at all.

Blaster has a great guide to these too, I have a link to his guide in my thread.
Hexadecimal does not include the letter 'y'.
It's not an easter egg.
...although I'm glad that "IceIceBaby" is as bad as this thread got.
