The thing is about Minecraft is that it's largely a blank canvas, so really trying to say what is appropriate or thematic for the game is largely a reflection of one's own ego on the game.
-I would tentatively be against guns, in general. No one seems to like the idea of modern or automatic firearms, and in regards to archaic weapons most of the suggestions seem to make them far too complex to deal with.
-I would not particularly want to see planes or ornithopters, although I would favor a hot air balloons, which I think could be made simply.
-I don't see any inherent problems with oil.
-I do not think we need any radioactive materials.
-I don't think cars or tanks are needed. I think minecart trains work well for the purpose.
-I don't mind other realms so long as old ones are well-fleshed out. I like new places to go, but I don't want them to be cutouts.
-Ridiculously hard mobs. I know there are a lot of hardcore players who need the extra challenge but I am not one, and I'd like to still be able to get stuff done while not necessarily switching to full Peaceful.
I don't want to see any more slimes.
I don't want to see any better villagers, with the exception of MCA. (Or I should say, because of the exception of MCA.)
I don't want guns or cheating mods (By cheating mods I mean X-Ray and Toomanyitems.)
I never want to see useless threads where people waste time bitching about things they don't like instead of making an actual suggestion in the Suggestions forum. For some reason, they keep showing up, though...
No. No it's not. It is not nearly enough said. As someone who spends a great deal of my time on these forums going into multiple paragraphs of detail on why the various arguments against guns don't hold up, I have yet to see any convincing arguments to validate your opinion. Quite frankly, it is getting to the point that anyone speaking out against guns almost automatically tags themselves as ignorant and/or uninformed, in my opinion. It certainly does not help that image that people like you assume that everyone would share your opinion and that you need not provide any reason behind it whatsoever, expecting others to bow down to your omniscience. So, unless you can give a damn good reason for your opinion (and that's all it is, an opinion), then it is most certainly not enough said. Oh, and if it doesn't take me more than three minutes to refute your argument (most anti-gun arguments take less) then it is not a good argument.
Your words are wasted on the ones who make posts with a word count a toddler can show you with one hand.
I'm confused because I thought Guns were thee dead topic of the forums? Not that it justifies his post, but what valid arguments are there for guns because I haven't thought or read of any except for "you don't get to decide what is in or not in the Minecraft universe" which is kind of a self-sustaining argument for anything.

Actually, there's a thread for that. Basically, though, it boils down to this: Most reasons against guns are either based on incorrect "facts", or assumptions about things that can't be assumed (such as game mechanics for an unimplemented feature). From there, it's just a matter of the piston principle, finding a visual and mechanical consistency with things already in the game. All the elements you would need to make a firearm are in the game already. The principles behind firearms are simple; "explody powder make metal thing go whoosh". So it's actually pretty logically inconsistent not to have them.
Back when lewl or someone made that list of things they didn't like, like Jurrasicraft and Spacecraft and Foodcraft, I was worried he was going to say Colony mode.
But when papercut said he'd like to see villages that grow and you can interact with I was like +1 lol.
I wouldn't like to see:
creepers ideas(lol)
any more ranged weapons, especially those that are more powerful than the already effective bow. Those that" require less string and have less effectiveness" Blah, just get more string! Seriously, add a whole new item over that? Its only 3 string to craft a bow and it never breaks.
I would like to see:
foodcraft(its just decor, sheesh, you don't HAVE to craft the stuff)
aether
better nether
I know its a little late to reply, but your argument becomes invalid at 1.1
In all seriousness though, I don't really care what gets added, I just embrace whatever comes to it. Maybe except for questionable content that would kick the rating up to an AO, but that is different.
