Really I just dont want modern guns, guns that require a crafting grid to reload, and one hit kill ones. I dont mind if its just a longer ranged bow. (maybe a longbow?) But I think the projectile speed should stay the same. Another reason is that most gun recipies involve sulfur/gunpowder in some way, even the less modern versions. (for obvious reasons of course.) However, while sulfur be more usefull then for just TNT, it is fairly easy to aquire once you find a efficient creeper hunting method. Or if you have one of those 50x50 mob traps.
Steam powered stuff I wouldnt mind. As long as it doesnt make people want to modernise minecraft further.
Umm if there was long reload strong pistols you could carry more than 2 and the reload wouldn't really be much of a problem.
here is my rebuttal to that:
new_player says," Yay! i just realized that if I carry two or three guns with me, I can fire faster and more times without reloading!
A creeper approaches new_player. "No problem! I will shoot him with my guns that kills in two hits!"
New_Player fires his first gun, hits, but now can't see because of the cloud of smoke created by the gun firing.
New_Player says," Crap!", and fires his other gun even though he can't see. He misses, and now has to reload his guns by opening up his crafting grid and placing the unloaded gun into it with one unit of ammunition. By this time, the creeper has gotten to him and exploded.
As stated before, the gun should only be useful when used by multiple people at the same time or when used from a great distance away.
Oh, and Deaven, what you said about the mob trap: If they have put that much effort into making a mob trap to spawn massive amounts of creatures, they should be rewarded for it with all of that sulfur and other mob drops.
Deaven, it seems like you don't like the idea just because it is a gun. What if I said it were a handcannon, or a crossbow that functioned the same way?
• I never want to see a new world like the aether (At least not until the nether has actually received an update )
• I never want to see guns
• I never want to see usable flying items/mounts (I have played with mo' creatures, the Pegasus made minecarts useless, But I wouldn't mind an controllable mount that couldn't fly)
• I never want to see something that can one shot me outside of hard mode
• I never want to see something referring to space
• I never want to see useless additions to boats
• I never want to see useless character aesthetics
• I never want to see an unlimited power source
• I never want to see non passive wolves (As only some of us know that wolves have been stereotyped as aggressive beasts when its quite the contrary)
• I never want to see tools more powerful than diamond
• I never want to see herobrine added to the game
• I never want to see dragons outside of the nether
****, I don't want to see anything useless in the game, anything that doesn't add to the survival, creative, or fun things to the game.
1. Agree, with "until the Nether is updated" part.
2. Agree, guns would be stupid in Minecraft!
3. Disagree, what if it's really hard to obtain? Minecarts are long distance, and can easily go in a 1x2 space underground, plus they're cheap to make. A minecart can't be killed by an angry pack of skeletons.
4. What about a powerful boss monster in Normal?
5. Agree, with the Nether and possibly the Aether (Notch said "it would be cool" to have the Aether) we have enough dimensions
6. Useless in what sense?
7. Disagree. Once most of the cool functional features have been added, what's wrong with a little eye candy? (And no, I don't mean jiggling boobs for female characters *coughcharlotecough* but better animations for getting hurt, attacking, wielding weapons? Cool hats like pumpkins that do nothing but look neat?)
8. Agree, otherwise there'd be no challenge. Wood is already unlimited, it just requires a bit of work.
9. Disagree. Passive? A pack of wolves would most certainly defend themselves if they were hungry and attacked by an intruder with a stick.
10. Undecided, maybe some kind of balanced tier (stronger than diamond, doesn't last as long)
11. Agree, Herobrine would be dumb
12. Disagree. I don't want gigantic Ghast clones stomping around on the earth, but I like the idea of dragons in the overworld.
If it was a crossbow/handcannon, I would still remain as oposed to them as I would if it was a gun. Reload with crafting grid would become annoying, you could fill your inventory with guns/handcannons/crossbows and become overpowered, (also, since most mobs run at you in a straight line, the smoke cloud wouldnt be much more then a inconvinience you can step out of.)
I agree that people who spend the resources and time needed in making a 50x50 mob spawner/looter trap deserve the loot, but I mostly dont want a slow reload-high damage-long ranged weapon. I would like a longer ranged weapon then a bow, (even though it is possible to shoot across a biome if you know how) But the damage/rate of fire should remain the same. Again I suggest a longbow, or something like that. Maybe this could be the crafting recipie:

I'm not going to continue this argument on this thread though. Its very off topic at this point.
I dont want minecraft to become sci fi. unless there was a option to have it that or not.
I don't mean stuff like lasers. More like steampunk style Sci-Fi, you know what I mean?
I liked gears, to be honest, they were a little easier to understand than redstone. But as long as it isn't too advanced, a little steampunk would be cool. (Hot air balloons, perhaps?)
i don't want to see any more game modes for SP. because it would cause survival mode to be completely ignored and if theres no survival mode, its not "mine craft"
I don't see why people don't want 'abandoned' houses in their world.
Like, a half destroyed house made of wood. Inside, there is a chest with one or two pieces of meat and a sword. Maybe some wood, cobblestone or even, rarely, some iron ingots.
The game is almost perfect... I mean changing the concept is totally not a good idea. Adding stuff is the idea but do not remove content or change the entire game... Graphics for example are somekind of trademark that shouldn't be changed for this Minecraft version.
Same with guns. The biggest reason that I see most people hating it for is the fact that it is a gun. If it were a crossbow that acted THE EXACT SAME WAY it would be supported.

Well... gee.
Huh, I think you just blew my mind, ty!
I think crossbows have been suggested before, (they have probably gotten more support for being a crossbow) but to me they are just wooden guns. If it is the exact same thing as a gun thread, only every time the word 'gun' pops up its replaced by 'crossbow', I wont support it.

So, what you are opposed to is a balanced antithesis to bows, but what you DO want is just a more powerful bow? How does that make sense?
Read my earlier posts about why guns or crossbows would be balanced.
What you have just said is that you only want a more powerful version of the bow that simply has longer range and does more damage, which is not balanced.
One thing that I would not like added is a hunger system that is nothing but an annoyance.
What I would like in a hunger system is a change so that food no longer heals you, but each time you lose a "hunger point", you gain a heart. Food would only refill hunger, not refill hearts. Of course, mushroom soup and golden apples should still heal hearts. Mushroom soup should heal fewer though.
If I wrote something incorrectly in the that post, or if it was misinterpreted or if I forgot to say something, heres what I meant to say:
It would be convinient if there was a ranged weapon with a longer range. However, the range could just be slightly increased for the bow. It would be much easier then adding handcannon/crossbow/gun/longbow. A damage increase/ a rate of fire change are both unnecessary due to arrows abundance. (Wait till day/find a skeleton spawner and make a trap/use flint, sticks and feathers. those are everywhere.)

The point is for the bow to remain as Minecrafts rapid fire, medium range, low damage ranged weapon, and to have crossbows/guns be the long ranged, slow firing, high damage weapon of the game.
Also, here is my rebuttal to the arguments about filling your hotbar with guns: If someone has used the resources to make that many guns, then let them do that. The problem is that they need to reload every single one of those guns again, and they can't move while they do that. Also, you still need all of that ammunition. There is still a delay while they either wait for the smoke to clear, or they move out of the smoke field, which means that they need to re-aim and get their bearings.
Someone with a hotbar filled with guns would be the same as a line of people with guns. You still need to give them all of that ammunition, which takes gunpowder and most likely iron to make, and you need to make all of those guns.
And about the argument of going out every morning and getting ammo: Creepers don't die in the sunlight! You would also need iron, which requires you to mine. combine these two facts, and you realize that you have a lot of work on your hands to keep the gun users stocked.
As I have said before, guns would only be a feasible and useful weapon in multiplayer, and here is why:
1.) The ammunition is expensive and takes a lot of manual labor to get! It is going to be difficult to keep a large supply of ammo without multiple people working on it.
2.) Guns would only be effective when used en masse, or as a defensive weapon. This means that you will need at least 3-5 people for it to be used as an effective attacking weapon, or you will need fortifications for it to be used as a defensive weapon.
3.) The fact that you would need to put it into your 2x2 crafting grid to reload means that you can't move while you reload. Wouldn't you want a buddy to back you up while you reload? or a wall to hide behind while you reload? This point mostly adds onto the second one, but is still very important.

Actually, I've seen guns implemented quite well in the ye-olde minegunner mod. Essentially, its creator has you go into the crafting menu the reload each shot individually. Plus, the basic stone pistol can explode in your face even at max durability instead of firing and the best gun takes three diamond and only gives a 6-shot maximum ammo. Furthermore, the guns are expensive and ammo even more so.

Deaven, it seems like you don't like the idea just because it is a gun. What if I said it were a handcannon, or a crossbow that functioned the same way?
Hmmm good point. But why couldn't you just move backwards while jumping to dodge the creeper and get out of the smoke? Unless there's another mob behind you your pretty safe. Also the creeper would be going in the same direction as before so a second shoot could easily hit if you aim in the same place. Maybe if they had all these great traits but does slightly more damage then a bow say 3-4 damage they would be better? If it was 3 it would take 4 shots to kill a player but would be pretty good for hunting.
Sigh.
No more new dimensions. Nether's fine in a sense, but it does need a nice update (possibly adding one or two new types of blocks (particularly some new ore, but I wouldn't know its function. I don't want to say a new tier of armor/weapons) and a few more mobs (not reskins either)).
Aether's decent. I'm a bit debatable with this, but it's fitting considering we have the Nether.
No new weapons. I'm particularly nit picky with ranged weapons (as we can simply add more melee weapons and the field will be fine, whereas with ranged it's easier to make one whole segment useless compared to another. In other words, adding a new ranged weapon would gimp or overshadow something else easier than with melee weapons).
Creeper nerf. Creepers are fine. Yes it does suck when your front lawn, the front of your house and the entire roof of said house get blown to pieces, but creepers were built to do that. This also falls with my growing annoyance with people crying about difficulty and requiring a nerf to things that are either fine or aren't a threat in lesser difficulties.
Flying anything. This is probably my more controversial view out of everything. I don't want flying mounts or the ability to fly in general (although regular mounts are fine). To me it just ruins the point of survival when you can just fly abovehead and avoid every possible threat (PvPing included). Others can and will argue otherwise about it, but I'm against flying.

More dimensions than Nether/Aether [Assuming they both get more support in the future than Nether is getting now]
A spawn point changer
"Mechanical Things" (i.e. Vehicles, guns, airships, furturistic stuff, steam power, space travel, etc.)
No. Guns. Ever. No "Handcannons" no "Crossbows" no guns. Longbow would be acceptable if it were nothing but a bow with more range.
No weakening of creepers or skeletons.
Nothing that makes the ocean too dangerous.
No bosses.
No herobrine. Really.
Nothing that allows you to fly.
Nothing that mines for you.
Nothing that lets you map out your world.
No increased spawn rate for diamond.
No buildings that aren't player-made.
