I dunno, I'm pretty sure Notch abandoned that to-do list long ago. There isn't even a link to it from the Minecraft website anymore.
[edit]Yes it is. It just seems to be well hidden. I looked everywhere but I couldn't seem to find it.[/edit]
So considering that list has [probably] been abandoned and the What Notch has actually said Thread is somewhat outdated and not necessarily accurate, I think we're in need of some sort of indication of what exactly he's planning on doing and when.

as soon as notch stops falling sleep on the sofa
Do you really think falling asleep on the sofa was from lack of work? If he was really being lazy, I'd think he'd find plenty of time to sleep in his own bed...

That was my interpretation anyway.
...Peace?
he's probably just tired from interacting with hookers so much in vegas.
my other post was supposed to be a joke by the way. just like this one.

Oh...whoops.
Lesson I learned the hard way, sarcasm rarely works on the internet unless you tell everyone you're actually being sarcastic.
@Comrade Texada: Just because Notch changes his mind alot even though he made commitments by saying he would do something doesn't negate the fact that he made the original commitment. It just means that you can't believe anything he sais that he will do.
"Honey, I know I said I wouldn't sleep with your sister. But to be fair, I didn't promise you."

Notch should be worried, not only because of what will happen to MC sales, but because of what will happen with future games. If you are dissatisfied with a game, you're less likely to buy from that developer in the future.
I've been a dedicated supporter of Minecraft since 2009. I've been a paid member for almost 2 years now. There hasn't been a single time where I have regretted Minecraft as a purchase, I've been patience and waited for updates.
I understand the newer people who could potentially leave due to bugs and lack of updates could hurt future sales, but I can say I highly doubt it.
At the current rate in which Minecraft is progressing I can only see it becoming bigger and bigger. I think only issue to be regarded is that people need to understand that this game isn't finished its in BETA.
I think only issue to be regarded is that people need to understand that this game isn't finished its in BETA.
Labels like Beta mean nothing when it comes to Minecraft. Notch doesn't follow the proper development cycle. The argument that the game is in Beta is rubbish. The main problem with bugs is that Notch has never really tested the game before giving an update to the public, and im not talking about the hard to find bugs, but the ones where if you actually ran the game once you would find a major bug. Now people who have no clue about programming will come in at this point and state that its our job to find bugs, etc. But if you were a programmer you would know that the first line of defence is the programmer. Programmers are meant to test there code to make sure at the very least there is no easy to spot bugs. Testers are for finding the hard to find bugs, not the "O look the game doesn't even run" kind of bugs.
Now before anyone starts to say im whining, im not. Im more than willing to wait for Notch to fix stuff he has broken, but the stupid claims that Beta is why there have been bugs which stop people from even playing the game is rubbish.

There are 8 people who work on the project to server over a million people to play it. They aren't a big gaming dev company that can take their time to look for every bug out there or even the obvious ones. They code the stuff, it doesn't crash, some basic tests are run, then they send it to us so we can find the bugs. That is what open betas are for. We find the bugs and they fix them. I do programming, so don't go on some tangent about how I don't know what I am talking about. Not every programmer is like you and will take the same steps as you. They can honestly do it however they please and you have to suck it up or not pay for the game.
If you didn't want to worry about "bugs" that cause the game to stop functioning, simply wait until it is released as a stable version and pay the full price.
Wow NDF out in full force simply amazing how people ask for facts you show them facts then they still ask you to show them facts.
I do what to thank the NDF for validating this thread though.
this is probably the first thread here that I LOL at, not just turning a phrase but truly laughed out loud.
Show me where he said that!!!
Right here [link]
BUT HE DIDNT SAY WHEN
um yes he did he said before beta
He must have changed his mind because he didn't say I promise!
sigh
Hahahahahahaha, I laughed at that too. No matter how many facts you present them with, they keep whining for more, so you hit them with more. They are the cancer that is killing the internet.
Thank God for the ignore option.

You're upset because I'm right. He didn't promise a date. He said he would like to have that done before beta, but maybe the other, more important tasks took too much time, more time than he anticipated? And that's another thing, you Attack Drones always focus on the negative. Negative, negative, negative. You can overlook a thousand things Notch has done right and find one part where he may have mucked up, and then have the audacity to call him lazy for the slightest slip up.
If you look at that old to-do list, you'll find a lot of the major things on there have been completed. You're saying the game is unplayable because it doesn't have seasons? What are you, 12?
Man, that's a lot of whining for content that is going to come sooner or later. We'd all love for the content to just come rolling out. I'd love seasons, too. It takes time though, so run along and go attack the next FOTM game. Real fans will stay with Minecraft.

i purchased minecraft and i have 3 others who i got to buy the game also and we all love the game very much. every game has its bugs and the ones in this one dont make it impossible to play so if you think this game is really that bad you can go find another sandbox box game as good as minecraft.

My mistake. Where did you find that? I thought I looked everywhere.
I'm still not sure whether or not he's even using it, but...yeah...
It looks like I'm all out Notch fanboy arguments.
RETREAT! TO THE NOTCH DEFENSE FORCE HEADQUARTERS!
/awkwardness
the answer is really simple, and really obvious.
notch forgot about it!
good job, mods, good job
No, Notch is just annoyin'. :biggrin.gif:
^That's probably it. After all...
^What he said.
And thus this thread comes full circle.
developers don't just forget about their development cycles...that's very, VERY poor management.
