You get every content update up until final release, you get buxfixes free forever and but any expansion packs/DLC Notch releases (GOD FORBID) you have to pay for, whereas Alpha buyers will get DLC/Expansion Packs for free.
Oh good, thanks. I probably wont be intrested in expansion packs anyway.

I see what you mean, but the way they put it, it sounded like you had to pay again to get the full version of the game.
It's true Mojang doesn't do a great job making their decisions and strategies clear to people.
Basically if you purchases Minecraft before a special date (dec 20th in this case), they "promise" you that if they ever choose to make some big update or expansion for Minecraft that they will decide to charge for - you'll get it for free (sort of as a thank-you, for supporting their Company when the game was in a very infantile stage).
If you buy it now, you still get a "discounted" price, which means it's less then what the game will cost when it's officially released.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I wish I had known about that December 20th deadline...
Not sure if this is true, but I saw some people talking about it on another thread, and that would really mess up gameplay.

Think about it as a sale or deal you missed out on. Ever heard of sales? Special offers? How they don't last forever?
