I'm in the middle of making a Minecraft MMORPG plugin that uses different kinds of experience to level up various attributes such as HP, MP, attack, defense, ranged, etc..
However, I need some ideas on spells! They need to be combat-oriented (deal damage, heal, buff/debuff, etc), but I want them to be minecraft-flavored as well; I don't want them to just be damage dealing spells.
EXAMPLE: /enflame
AoE debuff; sets all mobs within 10 blocks of user on fire for a scaling amount of time.
You don't have to be uber-specific; I just need inspiration! Also, take balance into consideration; I can't just have, for example, "/death" where it just kills the mob. Players need to be challenged and have to use their spells wisely to kill the opposing mobs, because different areas of the map have different level mobs with different stats.
Please help me out by posting ideas! If I use one of your ideas I'll make sure to let you know and you'll be in on the beta testing of the server ^^
Maybe you could create a few summoning spells, so someone could be able to summon a zombie or a sheep that would follow him around, I don't know if that's possible.
A few other ideas;
/lavaball: hurls a lavaball that explodes upon touching someone/something and then lava would flow from that particular spot
/firewall: pretty simple, creates a wall of fire
/jump: activates an ability to jump twice as far for like 10 seconds
/knockback or stun: knocks back anyone in a 5 block radius with a chance to stun
/godspeed: activates an ability to run twice as fast for a short period of time
Maybe you could create a few summoning spells, so someone could be able to summon a zombie or a sheep that would follow him around, I don't know if that's possible.
That was actually the one I was hoping to implement; the only problem is I'm not sure if it's possible to modify a mob's target so that it would a) not attack the summoner and :cool.gif: not attack allied players and c) attack mobs. It's definitely something I was hoping to do, though ^^

This might be possible, however I want the spells to not modify blocks so that the various combat areas will stay the same. Also, lava would burn the drops >.<

Was hoping to implement this one as well, however its also way more difficult than it sounds because of checking the terrain to make sure it isn't overwriting blocks and various other issues. This is a good possibility, though ^^

Hmm, this might be possible. Not sure if it's applicable to mob fighting but it could be useful in quests for dungeons and stuff. Good idea ^^

Also thought of this. This will be available to everyone once you reach a certain level, kind of like a "mount".
Well, some spell that damages you 50% of your health and deals that amount of damage to every mob/player within a medium-ish range..?
Really like this one, too. Maybe I'll go hardcore and make different areas of magic like black, white, and elemental. This has really good flavor to it. It'd probably be 50% of your health and deals a percentage (starting at 200% probably) surrounding mobs at scaling distance. Great idea^^

quickly depletes hunger (because all spellcasters need ENERGY in the form of food) but makes a projectile proof barrier. this effectively renders skeletons and ghasts and blazes and SMP bowmen and stuff like that useless outside of the mana shield.

makes a star shape on the ground that heals you and hurts undead. it costs hunger to use.

feather- it makes you lighter so you fall slower, allowing you to glide across gaps, makeing it harder to take fall damege.
super charge- makes you run twice as fast, and jump higher

it makes your sword drain a small portion of your HP (gold drains 0.5 hearts and diamond drains 2.5 hearts) but it makes the sword deal double damage.
