A kid, much like myself, may want to play MineCraft but don't have a Visa card or PayPal card to buy the game. My parents also worried that their cards may get hacked or what not. Plus, I live in the Philippines, which makes it hard to purchase MineCraft. So I plead that the Administrators and hopefully Notch will get the time to make it easier to purchase the game from other countries besides America; perhaps a disc that contains the game?
As long as your parents use a middleman like Paypal then noone can continually take money out of your account. Only Paypal would have access to your card. Paypal only take money from you when you tell them to.
Note: Paypal isn't a card. Its just an online company that allows you to transfer funds from your bank or credit card to other people.

You have to be careful with PayPal though. Just look at the ordeal they put Notch through in the past and he wasn't the first to have such an issue. You'd be better off having a friend buy it for you that is willing to trust online purchases.
Not to mention the issues of convincing paranoid people that one online service isn't like the others. :wink.gif:

Playing games with integrated graphics is like going on the Autobahn in a tricycle.

I really doubt that would be a possibility, getting the rights to sell a video game offline is tough.
Getting retailers to sell the game isn't a walk in the park either.
While I can't speak for Notch, I don't think you should count on being able to buy the game this way anytime soon.
Your best bet would be to convince your parents that PayPal is a safe site to send money through. (trust me, when I was your age my parents were the same!)
Best of luck!
I'm not so sure. As a kid, I don't really know a lot about credit cards and the like. I mean, I'm 12 for Pete's sakes
You know a lot of english vocabulary for a 12 year old kid from the Philippines.....
He knows a lot of vocabulary and grammar for your average human on the internet, he must be a robot!!
On-topic: online purchases are a pain in 3rd world countries (like mine), banks here make it difficult to transfer money to services such as Pay-Pal. Also, why on earth do you have to have a credit card?? I like buying stuff with cash, not with money I don't have, bad financial habit if you ask me.

Thats got nothing to do with people buying stuff with PayPal. Notch's ordeal was because large sums of money were put into his account in a very short space of time. PayPal are More Than Happy to take your money and give them to whoever your purchasing something from. They however don't like giving out money to people whos accounts looks suspicious until they have made sure the account is legitimate.

You can use Debit Cards (Bank Cards) with Paypal if they have the Vista sign on them. Id also imagine you could do a direct bank transfer to PayPal.

ok, here's the dealyo... Paypal is about as safe as you're going to get on the internet. It's like an escrow sorta, it's a third party that collects money from one person and delivers it to another. I use a paypal gateway for merch I sell online too. We do NOT see any credit card information at all on our end! The only place you'd get into trouble is if you had a virus or spyware that somehow logged your transaction. This is easily thwarted by 1) using firefox as opposed to internet explorer, 2) using an antivirus and keeping it up to date and scanning regularly, and 3) using antispyware such as spybot and keeping it up to date and scanning regularly. Do these 3 and you'll be fine. Oh, and always have the "save forms or autocomplete" junk turned off in the browser.
however, it's always a good practice to watch your card/bank statements for any fraudulent charges. If someone did get a hold of it, contact the creditcard people and (visa at least) they will usually fix the problem.
so in summary, tell your mum that paypal is safe to use a credit card on, just make sure your computer is up to date with all its antivirus stuff. and while she's at it buying stuff with paypal, direct her to my site for some wonderful merch... lol... shameless plug! XD

If I remember correctly English is a compulsory part of most schools in the Philippines. At least that's what I've heard.
But yeah, more payment options would definitely be appreciated. I think the big issue though is that Notch lives in Sweden, and Paypal works so well because it handles all of the exchanges with different currencies and so forth.

that and let me tell you about how obnoxious it is to set up a shopping cart / payment gateway system. granted you could have say a google one instead, but to have one of the bigboys it's VERY expensive!
besides, it becomes a moot point really, because what other options are you wanting? paypal will process credit cards, which will make up the vast majority of transaction types. and you don't need to be a paypal member to put in a credit card. it's just a gateway. Other than cards, there's bank transfers (which paypal would be optimal for), checks (which would probably stink on Notch's end for exchange rate and cashing problems), cash (which would be insane to mail), and that's about it. Paypal with credit cards is IDEAL for his situation.
now, if you want it in a box that you can find in the store... that's a whole other mess. it would also tack on a lot more money cause right now you pay for notch's time and labor. a retail box would require a LOT more stuff and jack the price waaaaay up.
so yeah, just use a credit card to buy it and be done with it. if you followed my instructions, you "should" be safe to purchase. and buying via paypal isn't any less dangerous than say from amazon or any other mainstream internet shopping site.
Well, thank you for all the support if you have read this and supported. I just hope there will be an easier way to buy Minecraft in the future. And hopefully that time is near. =

Well, it IS taught at most schools. The problem is, our books suck which means not everyone learns the right things :|. Also, some teachers say things that are completely wrong.
As a kid from the Philippines (11 !) I'd say a disk would be a bit expensive. Well, the disk itself isn't really expensive but the cost of mass-producing a game disk that might not even sell good would be disastrous. Besides, the game is only a few MB. Game Cards = Same thing. Paypal would definitely be the safest way to go. Or, just ask a friend (a close friend, so that he won't desert you), tita (aunt) or tito (uncle) who has paypal to buy it for you. It's only 600 PHP so it isn't really expensive. Besides, I bet anyone who can speak English that well probably has enough money to buy this game.
I wouldn't be surprised if you turned out to be my classmate O.o
VI-OLA (If you are, you'd know what this means, if you aren't then you wouldn't know what this means.)
Knytte (or however you spell it), you said: "My theory is this: This is a 30 year old cracker trying to get a disc with Minecraft in order to bypass some kind of copy protection."
Maybe you're just too much of an asshole to not see issues of the youth. I apologize for the rude words but I can get annoyed, I'm only human.

Just tell your parents to use PayPal. I am also from the philippines and that is the method of payment I used.
