A Minecraft app is feasible, since they are working right now on implementing Java more efficiently into the iPod Touches. I can see this in the future.
What about for the Ipad? It has got more processing power and the larger screen would make for an easier interface. You could, for example, press on blocks to destroy them and use a two fingered touch to place them. Problem would be the software, but that's easily circumnavigated with a little forethought.
Even if it did come out as an app for the (Ipod??) I wouldn't get it. The graphics would be horrible, the actual game-concept/controls would also stink. Why not just wait til you get home to play on a computer?
yeah, that is a nice one, but the problem is that is not directly supported by mojang
(or acknowledged as far as i know), which means it could be a copy, leeching off the virality of minecraft,
using directly the name and logo,
Bad idea to even have it for any portable device. Why?:
Hard to make an absolute full version for it, even the new ipods have max 140mb of useable memory.
Would you really play minecraft for THAT long? You would probably get bored of the game after playing it so much and almost stop playing... It may not seem like it could happen to you, but for me I can't do anything for many hours a day every day and not get bored of it after a while.
And a lot of people have a jailbroken iPod that could download it for free, and use your account.
It wouldnt be any good. Think of how immensely laggy minecraft even on a remotely low end computer. Now imagine that on an ipod.
I don't know about the ipods, but new generation of smartphones all have comparable specs to most modern day low end computers. What with dual core Tegra CPUs and whatnot.
I think it'd be neat, especially since I have an ipad and 3 ipods milling around here, but when you think about it, how in the world would the interface work? I can not imagine that whatever anyone could come up with would actually be playable. The game simply doesn't lend itself well to the platform.
Notch said on his blog at one stage that Minecraft would be released on the iPhone and Android late this year. I'm too lazy to go and find the blog post, though.
The above statement is false.

Look it up, I have java on my iphone. its possible but it would have to be a jailbreak app
It's not a real minecraft app.
but its named differently
cant think of the name currently

Never! Wait... Apple company makes it, right??? Yeah, I'm for it
think for a sec.. how would you jump/place blocks/mine blocks. it would be alot of buttens for such a small screen
so no it will never happen.
