Hello people,
I just started MineCraft and so I have a few issues. First of all, I'm trying to get better blocks like iron, gold and stuff like that but I can't find any... I tried digging deep and all the ended up happening was that I fell through the ground (or something similar to that) and died. My second issue is that when I go outside and explore and try to find some worthy blocks, I seem to get lost at night even if I did place torches on the way. Those are my two major issues and I would be extremely grateful if someone could help me. Maybe if someone could connect to my world I help me find blocks that would be great :smile.gif:
Well, your best bet in findin materials to mine like Redstone and iron is by finding a cave or a cliff. Second, you need to keep an eye out for bedrock, which is the black blocks that look like this: :opblock:.
Make sure you don't confuse with with obsidian, which is created when water hits a lava spring:
Bedrock means that you're nearing the bottom of the map, and that you shouldn't dig much deeper. As for getting lost on the surface, that can be solved by making a recently implemented item, the compass. It points towards where you spawned so you always have a reference point. it's made like so:

Can you help me out by coming to my world? Is that possible?
Dig, dig, dig. That's what I do. I usually go to cave entrances or just start digging down diagonally untilI find a cave. Once I find it, I start exploring. Be sure to always store the things you find (gold ore, diamonds, iron ore, etc) since you never know when you can break a block and find yourself in lava :ohmy.gif:

I can't make it... I used gunpowder but it doesn't work.
However, if you use a program like Cartographer (highly recommended) the north there is not north. The north there is in-game east. Oblique mode, I can't remember :smile.gif:
But yeah, that happened to me once. My base is far from the spawn and I died, and had no idea how to get back. So I made landmarks on the map, saved, ran Cartographer, figured out the corresponding coordinate system, and finally found my way home.

Clouds are always headed to the north.
