A few people are just going to spend the day loitering in the park. I'll probably be bringing books, frisbees, kites, bottled water, and showing up mid-afternoon.
I'm also thinking of calling in a Red Robin reservation for 20 people at 7 or 8 pm. (depending on input)
edit: gave up on finding a real indoor space. (and not sure there's a point to paying $50 to $100 to reserve part of the park)

Not a bad plan, assuming that we only have 20 people around then. Looking at the location poll and seeing that there are 40+ votes, it could get rather cramped though. Do they take reservations for 50? :smile.gif:
I think having people come and go all day is just too cluttered and random, there should at least be a specified start time so everyone can be there at once (more or less). And I assume that Notch would like to do more than just hang around in a park all day while MC players come and go on his free day. :/
EDIT: Oh and BTW the earliest i can be there is 4:00 pm. What time can everyone else come?
I can come almost any time, but I'd have to bike it, and I've never tried biking all the way back to downtown Bellevue from where I live now. It's on the high end of my distance limit though for biking, so I need to decide if it's a distance I can actually handle.
Curse my inability to drive. Heh. And yeah there's buses but eh I dunno. What money I have will be tight enough as it is, having to pay fare on top of eating and stuff could be problematic. But anyway, I wanna come, I just hope I'll be able to.
Someone needs to keep contact with Notch and find a specific time, as a lot of people won't be able to make it the whole day. I can, I'll have days, even, but I just want to be considerate to the people biking or driving from further away. Is anyone able to do this?

Biking from where, exactly? The wife and I (she managed to get the day off after all) are driving up from Tacoma and will pretty much have all day to fool around. I don't mind playing taxi a bit if it's not too far out of the way between there and here.
Unlikely that you're going to cram a bike into my car, though.

I'll be biking down from Redmond. Specifically, down Bel-Red since that's teh straightest shot. It's not a super-long way, just longer than I'm used to riding.

I agree, someone needs to step up and assume the mantle of MC and make some final decisions so we can all be on the same page. This decision-by-committee business is silly and inappropriate for something coming up so soon.
1) Judging from the fact that there's nearly a 50% lead on the poll between the Park and the next competitors, I feel safe saying that the park is where we'll meet.
2) Watching what everyone's been saying, it looks like many people will have work or otherwise not be able to arrive until late. Given that, I think we should have it "officially" be a late-afternoon/evening event.
3) Finally, it seems that having a group excursion to Red Robin had not received enough support to become official. I would not be surprise to find people going there anyway, just not as a group.
At this point I agree that we should set a specific time & location. I propose:
MinecraftCon 2010
Location: the park in downtown Bellevue, WA (directions in the original post)
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Coming early is acceptable but also optional. LAN parties and/or other events afterwards are left to the individuals interested in each event. There are no official arrangements for food, but feel free to bring your own or buy some from nearby venues.
Further detail: the park has some parking at the South and West. (3 hr max - enforced) There's a kids space to the SW. I think we should loiter/meet at the north-side courtyard (round fountain) so that people can just park at the mall and cross the street.
5:00-8:00 sounds reasonable. I'll be there with water, frisbees, kites, surprises, and useful local info.
edit: we don't have to stay at the fountain, I just think it's a good place to gather initially
5:00 seems a little late in the day, but I get that people have work and such. I'll head over earlier, probably like 1-2:00, but I don't want to be alone...
I am not sure on time but it seems people are favoring something more in the afternoon. We have not heard anything about times Notch is open so I can not say for sure what time this will happen.

Yeah, once again, nobody is corresponding with Notch here. I just sent him a tweet asking him the time of day that he's available, I'll post his response, if any, here. I'm personally kind of hoping it's a bit earlier in the day, because those are prime hours to visit the conveyor belt sushi bar a few blocks away(which is where I'm going, Red Robin is cool but man, sushi! in/near Seattle!).
Also, meeting at the north fountain is a good idea, but someone really, REALLY needs to go scout the park for the perfect spot, and they need to arrive there early on the 31st and guard it, so perhaps we should find the best place before deciding on a meeting spot.
And I'll bring snacks! Unfortunately I don't know if I can make my locally famous chocolate chip cookies in a hotel room, but I'll try to bring something. I'll definetely bring some non-alcoholic beverages, though. and extra nametags! Well, and some salmon jerky for Notch, of course, but that's only expected.

Victoria? We just vacationed there last week. Good times. How are you planning on getting to Bellevue from Pier 69?

So it looks like you're doing 12 - 8 :smile.gif:

Many thanks, adding it to the main thread now.
