I got in twice. The first time I got in the server crashed in less than a minute after I joined. The second time I was on for a bit longer (maybe 4-8 minutes) and I was on a roll. I had plenty of surprisingly scarce wood, coal, and tools. Eventually though, I decided I wanted to go back to where I originally spawned so I typed /home. I knew I had been teleported underground because my screen went dark so I dug myself out and found that my screen was spinning wildly. I could do nothing to stop this so I disconnected and immediately tried to reconnect and obviously it was full again.
Multiplayer was very playable besides the fact that there was a good bit of server-side lag, random gaping voids you could easily fall into, no monsters, no day/night cycle, broken smelting (had to type /iron to shoot iron bars and pick them up), sometimes not being able to pick up certain droppables, and no PvP. Overall it was a good experience because there was no grieving as far as I could tell and many people even wanted to cooperate and form mining teams, ect.
Why are you all trying to get in? it's extremely rude, as it was unintentional for the code to get leaked.
Please, stop. Just wait for Notch to release it himself, the way it's supposed to happen. Honestly, you should all be banned in my opinion. This is obviously an encouragement of disrupting progress. There's a reason there was a code, if the code's leaked, you're an ass for ignoring the idea of a reason.
If some guy built a house and accidentally mailed housekeys and an address to everyone in his city, and you were in that city, would you go into his house?

if he then said, "oops, oh well come to my house anyway we will have a party" then yes.
You should really stay on top of things, Bear. It's extremely rude to tell us we should be banned when Notch said it was OK.

If a creeper walked in to my house, I'd either be cowering in a corner or unzipping my trousers.

No need to get so butthurt about it, people want to try it out, see what it's like. There's nothing special about it, as it's being released soon anyway. It's going to happen no matter what, people aren't going to stop. It's a fun experience, and I'm sure the people that NEED to get in have the ability to kick players off if they need to. If Notch is okay with it, I'm okay with it.

How?
Original Post: "Hey, look! Notch gave out the password for SMP on multiplayer. Let's talk about SMP.
Thread direction: "Talking about SMP."
+1, he must have only read the title
Keep going one way, and all the chunks start repeating. Pretty much just a hill and a Tree over and over and over again.
Ugh... that sounds terrible.
Time for a new map! Yeah!
