Some people give op to really stupid people. Some op tried to trap me in a adminium block(harmless fun), not knowing I could set and reset my spawn. Others taunt you from spawn, for a feeling of being "super-cool op". A lot of you will say that I should just join another server, but what if the server has a unique and generally well-moderated staff? I guess this is just a rant, but people please be nice to patrons of your server, or your no better than the greifers you try to protect.
So the question is, have you ever encountered severely stupid/abusive ops before?
But you're right, many people are opped who shouldn't be.

I was just on a server.. I saw Kaitou was on it.. And I said "You might want to keep an eye on him, he's a known griefer" then.. Someone else said I was asking for a kick and I shouldn't disrespect a op..
Someone.. OPd.. Kaitou.
Sometimes Lep doesn't take responsibility when griefers get into Chariot's, and blames the other ops and threatens de-oping them for "not doing their job." Other than that, he is efficient, friendly and very hard on bull shiters.
I've been banned randomly from multiple servers by power-hungry ops. I guess it depends on their personality, and how easily they lose their temper, which is a good idea why it's a good idea to watch how possible ops behave before you give them powers.
Many new server hosts have a problem with getting enough ops to start off with though, so I can see why people might get OP powers that don't deserve it.
My advice: Evaluate your ops frequently, and replace possibly abusive ops with ones that are more deserving.

Yeah, except for that one flaw there, Lep seems like a good OP.
My Fave ops are on TCWS Server. All the ops there know each other in real life (except me, but I've been there forever, so I'm trusted). This way, if one of them does something stupid, they just gota go get a stick...
While that would be overkill for some admins (I only know 2 other Minecrafters, well), It's a good system.
But I have seen some preaty bad ops before. Some that argue with you all day, others that ban you two seconds after you join, even ones that greif.
I only op people I know well enough to trust, or who are well respected here on the forums. Then, if they are bad, I can let everyone know. XD

I find it both amusing and bemusing that people say "abusive ops shouldn't exist" like it should be a server option to turn them off or something...
I had one experience with a bad OP. Don't remember the name of him/her. Basically, they did a really good job of getting rid of griefers at first, then just went psycho and banned everyone. I asked them (over console) why and they said "Got bored." then logged out... I'm not quite sure how that justifies the actions but it was the last time I ever OP'd someone through them gaining my trust over a server session. From now on, there is a closed group of people I trust enough to be OPs, they and only they will ever be OPs on any of my servers.
Usually I run a private invite or application only server though, so I tend to not have a need for OPs and usually just OP people for a "just-in-case" scenario, if one of the members or OPs go rogue.

A paranoid and jittery OP is not a bad one if balanced with a looser one.

Who sits down and writes maniacle laughter?
Are you trying to say that Lep is a bad op?
