Hmmm, won't this mean that current custom servers will be incompatible with the new client? Just throwing that out there.
Probably a side-effect, although I'm sure Notch will be glad of it.
I know I'll be happy with anti-hacks :biggrin.gif:
Same here. The day after Notch broke the hacks accidentally, with the new protocol, was one of the best days I've ever had in Minecraft. I can't wait for them to be broken on purpose. :biggrin.gif:
Meh, I'm fine s'long as hacks aren't disabled completely. But I doubt he'd do that.
How can you doubt that a game's own developer will try to eliminate hackers from his game? It makes complete sense that he would try his hardest to get rid of them.

Because he is a cool developer and wants what is best for the players, giving them the option to use said hacks if they so wish?

GOOD IDEA: incorporate features from hack clients into the official that are safe and players like a lot
BAD IDEA: Allow random people from the internet to write clients/client wrappers for your game
It'll save him a ton of time if he just leaves hacks as they are and makes it optional to disable them, rather than adding them to the official thing, nobody'll lose anything important anyway.

Producing a game isn't about saving time, it's about producing a game that will be secure and enjoyable.

Also WoM added the anti-hack to WoM themselves.
Also known as 'Rils'
