So I am building a castle/mansion type thing, and I'm wanting to have water running out from under the bridge. Problem is, I'm building in a snowy biome (for the landscape, not the weather, which is turned off) and my water is above ground (66 using Rei's Minimap), and it keeps freezing.
I want to try and avoid using torches if possible, as they won't fit with the design. I have tried using glowstone as suggested by a friend, but this did nothing. I have also tried running lava underneath (lava, below marble, below water) but this also does nothing.
Does anyone have any solutions/suggestions? Would a vulcanite amulet work or does that just affect snow and not ice?

What about Jack-o-lanterns? or using Redstone Lamps (kinda like glowstones) but u have to turn them on (redstone torch, wire, etc,,).
Thanks!
I had the same issue. since I am still new I dont really understand some of the mumble jumble, but I am assuiming, while these Idea's ppl gave (Ender Portal,
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I've put a lot of glowstone under the water, and also put some lava down (as this fit more than torches). It seems to be light enough to stop it from freezing.
